Hi all,

Just wondering if any fellow Ourun Deluxe owners could post / link to pictures of they machines?

I've removed all the fibreglass panels ready to take to a car body shop, however I've seen several paintjobs on the wheels and want to see what generally looks better. I've seen all silver rims / silver alloys but black in the 'gaps' / yellow/silver centres / white Sega Outrun text on the tyre wall / text painted over...

Does anyone know what the factory paint job was, or did this vary during production?

Cheers in advance

P.S. promise I will start a restoration thread soon - I have photos of her looking all mucky with her panels off - its outrun pron.

btw if ever you come across any rear light covers for sale with you give me a shout please, one of mine is missing & the other badly damaged, not sure if they are things you can ever buy or if I'll have to try & cobble something together myself.

Funny you mention it. I could do with some myself. Both mine are there but have years of grime on them, one is broken, but can be glued; the other has a crack in it along one of the ridges.

There's a guy from a french forum trying to repro some as well:

I had a quick google for the plastic used and was wondering if you could paint a thin layer of paint/nail varnish on the back to repro them... Not really explored this idea yet - hoping mine will look ok once cleaned up and glued carefully.

I need to do something when she is rebuilt, I'll probably end up with one of those kits from Halfords as a put on as mine is really let down by them being missing/half missing, like the sound of the repro ones from France, there is that firm in America who do a lot of nos parts, kept thinking they may get some in, no rush though for me, looking forwrd to seeing what your cab looks like when she is painted/rebuilt, is it a project you are going full steam ahead with as it will be nice to see what routes you take.

Yeah, mines a total project; it's rough as spanners truth be told... Got it over 2 years ago just before moving into the girlfriend and my first own house. It's a total project cab..

Unfortunately DIY, getting the games room sorted and other bits of real lift have meant it's just been sat in the garage doing nothing. We've just got a 5 month old baby now as well, but I feel I need to get the project underway as it's annoying me just sat there. I'm in no rush to complete it, but need to crack on!

I'm still disassembling it all at the moment. Need to blast and powder coat the base, reproduce side art and paint the body panels. Need to test/ rebuild power board and clean up/ rebuild the motion mechanism; it's caked in 30 years of grease and crap... Fortunately, just got the board working from Retroclinic. I think the monitor works. Lots of work ahead...

cmonkey, I never would have guessed thats how the cabs looked from the factory, not too sure about the words being painted on the tyres, don't think I'll be doing that tbh.

Actually the original flyer shows a different picture. No text on the tyres and a yellow centre cap (like the centre cap on the steering wheel), so maybe the first picture I posted is incorrect?

Some of the flyers were proto's or cabs produced for shows etc etc; there are many differences. Space Harrier Dlx for example has a completely different base with a 'step' on the front in the flyer....

Do you need a very specific picture? I can post you oics of ours but unless i get 3-4 people together then we can't move it - as with most ORDLX's, the castors aren't working properly.

I believe the machine should move fairly freely on its wheels.

Funny you should say that but I notice on the flyer above the or deluxe has a step along the right as well.

Thanks guys. I don't need any specific photos really James, thanks for the offer tho.. Just trying to get a view of what the most common factory paint job.

Think I'll go for similar to what Drawfull has done, only with the gaps in the alloys painted in black.

Interesting about the step on the right in the flyer. It's also shown in the manual, they must have dropped it from production; Been wondering about that.

I think I'll keep my alloys all silver including the gaps but will possibly add in some Ferrari stickers to the centre caps though, I reckon that looks quite good.

I do quite like the text on the tyre walls but unless it's my eyes the owner of that cab has tried to give the black a rubbery matt look, really interesting but I do like things glossy & shiny like on Drawfulls cab
