Hi Rigel,

Firstly, good work with the PSU and adjusting the 5v. You won't find any schematics for it, it's made by a company called TST (model TSF-CL-PP) and it's only found in a couple of Nintendo cocktail tables, Space Firebird ( and possibly Space Fever?) so it's not in the Sega/Gremlin manual. It's before Nintendo beefed up the PSU with the larger more common model found in DK, Popeye cocktails.

Andy

how easy is it to pick up a beefed up PSU for the nintendo cocktail? I'm at the upper limit on VR1 and VR2 on the power board to get the +5v and when i switch it on from cold it surges up to +5.8v for a couple of minutes

.

a stronger, more stable PSU may well be a good place to start.

Hi Rigel,

I doubt there's anything majorly wrong with your PSU, it's quite a simple solid design and sounds like you just need to replace the main filter caps (an easy task). Next time I visit my lockup I'll check my one to make sure there's not meant to be a cap at C11, as I'm not sure if that cap is meant to be excluded or it has been knocked off yours. I'm also interested to know why yours has a jumper on the underside.

But yeah, it shouldn't peak at 5.8v and could cause damage.

hi Andy, just checked the power PCB and there is no evidence of broken legs at C11 the holes in the board go through to the solder on the other side of the board.

the jumper on the back appears to link pin 2 on the left black box to pin 2 the right black box via jumper J8 and the blue wire.

which caps are the main filter caps that need replacing on the power PCB? where is the best place to order them from?

regards, R.
