Pi2Jamma not recognising controls

So i have a bit of a strange one, all of my original PCBs work fine with both player one and two controls, but as soon as i put my pi2jamma in there it doesnt recognise player one, and only occasionally recognises player 2.

There is 5.5v getting to the harness, so its not a power issues, and a little bit of googling suggest it could be a ground issue but i don't really know where to begin. If there was a grounding issue in the loop would that not mean my controls would not work on original PCBs as well?

All of the grounds are connected to each button and the harness.

Any help would be great.

ok, so after a big of digging it appears it may be getting too much voltage, would that stop the controls from working though....ill have a play in a bit

so, little bit of playing today, and it turns out i cant get my power supply below 5.3v, as soon as i turn it just a tiny bit more it drops down to around 0.9, could this be a PSU issue?

i've tested all the groundings on the buttons and sticks and they are all fine

anyone offer any advice?

That doesn't seem right your voltage on your PSU, your boards with likely draw more power than the pi2jamma, so maybe that's why they work ok (drop to nearer 5v under load) Easiest thing to try first is swap the PSU with another you have?
If your buttons all work with your pcb's then they should be fine, all they do is ground when you press them.

so, replaced my PSU with a newb today and the voltage is now fine, but still not recognising anything on the control panel

could this be some sort of grounding issue where pi2jamma is a lot more sensitive than PCBs, and if so, how do i check the grounds for each switch?
