Unfortunately I tried to do that, and I have been explicitly told not to and to do my own thing. So I would like to set something up for people that aren't going to that dinner.

If I can get list of people to understand numbers we'll come up with something

That is pretty pathetic but not surprising. Each time you guys attempt to extend an olive branch it is thrown back in your faces. Nevermind, let them get on with it.

I'm definately in for a few drinks on Saturday evening. There's a couple of half decent pubs near the venue.

The Swinging Bridge:

Or there is a Castle in the Air, which is a Whetherspoons at Chill Factor:

EDIT: Just read the rest of this thread, which made my previous comment rather pointless and insignificant.

I won't be going either for the same reasons already echoed by Purity and RGP.

Sheesh.

To be honest I am ashamed at you guys. Get your asses there and enjoy yourselves - It should not matter who has caused what sh*t and for what reasons, I would like to think you are both above playground politics.

Play Expo has outgrown any single arcade forum in the UK. It has the potential to grow year on year, but that can not be achieved with the status quo IMHO.

Come join us for a beer or seven in the Premier on the Saturday night and have a laugh at all the petty childishness that exists.

It was not an easy decision to make Dave. Last year, I bought along two cabs at my own expense. Purity was the first to arrive on site and was heavily involved in setting up and tearing down. RGP as you know bought along the entire contents of the Lair.

Myself, Purity and Mr tb lilley were chucked off J+ shortly after RGP. So, it seems unlikely we would be welcomed to the J+ stand. As it happens, the cabs would have been a big draw for me at PLAY EXPO, a shame.

Nah, I'll pass on the hostility for this year.

Anyway, maybe you should bring it up in a thread on J+, see how well it goes down.

Mind you, Mr tb lilley deserved to be chucked, it was there at PLAY EXPO last year that he commited that terrible deed of day light swindle involving a raster monitor.....

Sheesh.

Really? Really? Wow. I'm honestly at a loss for words, and that doesn't happen often.

How can they stop you from entering the bar area where they happen to be? I thought this silly carry-on was done and dusted.

F*ck me does this hobby get me down sometimes. I thought this year was going to be a good one. Lots of events to go to, lots of people meeting up, air being cleared, sh*t being talked over, and lots of games being played.

But no, again things turn to crap, sides have to be taken, banners flown and battle lines formed. These events are supposed to be fun, a great excuse to chuck a load of cabs in a room and attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the 70's/80's/90's arcades that we all loved and miss now.

99% of whatever bad stuff happened seems to involve no more than about 10 people - a lot of whom are not even involved in the scene anymore - and still we all have to witness this self-imposed division of forums, meets & events. Some people seem to enjoy nothing more than continuing it and taking any opportunity to make negative comments.

I know there was a lot of chomping about Revival this year as certain people would be meeting up who'd not been seen before and a few people were no doubt hoping it would all kick off.
What actually happened? Everyone had a chat and a pint and played some games. A thoroughly nice time. Many people who have a lot to say didn't put in an appearance, as usually happens with these things.

It's so sad, all of it. I've met a lot of guys this year for the first time and everyone was nice. We can all have vastly different personalities on line to in real life, and actually meeting people in person can completely change your opinion of them if they've rubbed you up the wrong way in the past. We're all in this hobby for the same reasons - to chat about and play old games.

Play Expo will be fantastic this year, there will be a ridiculous amount of cabs there to play, hundreds of consoles, huge lines of pinballs. Why would anyone in the hobby not want to go?

Sometimes it's all to easy to focus on the politics and the people and forget about the games, and that's what we're all here for!

Dude, I agree with what you have said, but I seriously think you are directing this at the wrong people.

Let the facts speak for themselves:

1) Rav and Ol have extended an olive branch to J+, and asked to attend the meal, this was refused.

2) A few us have been banned/disabled from J+, without notice, and without specific agreement, so it's not easy to support a J+ backed event. This has resulted in all sorts of nonsense like being removed from Facebook groups, removal of Revival info on the web etc

I don't see any of the UKvac guys doing anything like this? Do you?

It's just an open statement. Let's be honest, we all know that most people can and do read both forums whether through a different user name or whatever.

There used to only be divided forums. Then there were divided meets, then events, and now there are divided dinners!

I think I'm just gonna go back to my hotel and f*ck my missus, can't fall out with anyone over that
smiley36.gif

This thread started out about who would be going to Play Expo this year, within hours it's turned into another forum war thread. Don't interpret that to mean I don't think the same thing would have happened if it was on J+.

On topic I'm sending my whole collection this year which is 12 or 13 now, I've got some pretty decent cabs among them that I've spent countless hours & money making a nice as I can - come and have a play please, it's what they were made for

Sorry dudes, I wasn't trying to put a downer on this. I was just trying to explain the reasons why I wasn't personally attending and I'm sure the other posts like this were the same.

I hope you guys have a great event and I look forward to having a few beers and food with you afterwards
