I am goign for the whole weekend this year... was a very bad decision to only for one day last year.

Anyway, all going well I will have the Ice Cold Beer cab up there and I am very much looking forward to meeting alot of you guys. All of this animosity and taking sides was well before my time and I am not getting ivolved... I want to be friends with everyone. And the more people that start thinking that way, hopefully all of this can slowly be put to one side so we can all enjoy the games and events together.

I'm not 100% sure if me (Arcade Otaku) is having my own section or what again this year.

And Pete, as far s I know the plan this year is to merget all of the cabs... it defintely would make sense, instead of having to walk half way across the hall between each set.

So I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible this year and hopefully for a few drinks afterwards.

I don't have time to organise anything again this year - looks like Gradius is tackling it again, but I'm committed to bringing a machine or two with me regardless.

The logistics are what kills it - it's not a couple of people bringing a truckload of machines from one place, it's a dozen or more people providing a single cab from all over the country.

The candy guys only need a cab or two to play everything they want and value/damage/spares availability combine to make it unattractive to let the public loose on them.

I'm not sure any of this is changeable. If firebug said HOG could be transported up in an artic then that'd solve logistics in one hit, but I wouldn't expect him to find that a hugely interesting prospect.

All of this said - since "UKVAC" are excluded, and I hope I'm not treading on toes with this (apologies if I am, please feel free to edit/delete as appropriate) if anyone here has some of the more modern machines (Naomis/drivers/anything else more plastic and metal than wood etc) and they'd like to get involved with the show then get on over to AO - maybe we can get a 2010 size lineup again!

Well said, Rog, and exactly how I feel.

Looking forward to meeting some new faces (to me) and spending time with fellow enthusiasts over the weekend.

Bwah, just had an email from someone on J+ saying some pretty negative things are being posted.

Apparently I'm full of hate and can't be nice on Facebook - not sure where that one has come from?

Also we were chucked off the forum because we left apparently. My recollection of this was that Aran said it was upto us what happened to our accounts. I don't recall asking him to close it

I was banned on the Facebook site because Julian asked "What's
this? a second mystery cab coming to Unigame on the weekend of 26/27/28th July?
What could it be?”

Someone responded with "an AW special with "reliable" LCD?"

I responded with "Another Electrocoin cab"

Not sure how that makes me full of hatred? Maybe he can clarify?

F*ck me does this hobby get me down sometimes. I thought this year was going to be a good one. Lots of events to go to, lots of people meeting up, air being cleared, sh*t being talked over, and lots of games being played.

But no, again things turn to crap, sides have to be taken, banners flown and battle lines formed. These events are supposed to be fun, a great excuse to chuck a load of cabs in a room and attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the 70's/80's/90's arcades that we all loved and miss now.

99% of whatever bad stuff happened seems to involve no more than about 10 people - a lot of whom are not even involved in the scene anymore - and still we all have to witness this self-imposed division of forums, meets & events. Some people seem to enjoy nothing more than continuing it and taking any opportunity to make negative comments.

I know there was a lot of chomping about Revival this year as certain people would be meeting up who'd not been seen before and a few people were no doubt hoping it would all kick off.
What actually happened? Everyone had a chat and a pint and played some games. A thoroughly nice time. Many people who have a lot to say didn't put in an appearance, as usually happens with these things.

It's so sad, all of it. I've met a lot of guys this year for the first time and everyone was nice. We can all have vastly different personalities on line to in real life, and actually meeting people in person can completely change your opinion of them if they've rubbed you up the wrong way in the past. We're all in this hobby for the same reasons - to chat about and play old games.

Play Expo will be fantastic this year, there will be a ridiculous amount of cabs there to play, hundreds of consoles, huge lines of pinballs. Why would anyone in the hobby not want to go?

Sometimes it's all to easy to focus on the politics and the people and forget about the games, and that's what we're all here for!

No one can argue with the sentiment. I sincerely hope you use any available opportunity to give same message over on J+.

Mind you, Mr tb lilley deserved to be chucked, it was there at PLAY EXPO last year that he commited that terrible deed of day light swindle involving a raster monitor.....

This is true - I'm surprised the J+ mods didn't boot me earlier. I had it coming. In spades (no offence Nad).

Tee hee! I actually find that quite funny ....

Listen mate - don't let them get to you. Your rep is good and strong I reckon. Others' not so. People aren't daft. Not the people who count anyway ...

Not made my mind up what I'm doing this year - probably go. And would like to mix with all. Think some friends of mine might be doing something with J+ - so that's all going to be a bit 'awkward' as my 10 year old daughter likes to squak.

The whole thing is a mystery to me. I met most of J+ admin on several occasions. Nice guys. Very hospitable. I'm more than happy to extend the hand of friendship again. All cool with me. But it is all going to feel a bit odd - what with having my account suspended over there. Don't think it helps that some people still appear to want to put petrol on to the flames .... No one has to accept an olive branch if they don't want to. A polite decline would do it though - no need to be rude about it.

As Mr Muddymusic pointed out - most people are members of both forums. But perhaps more so this year than ever before, given up turn in activity over here over last 6 months or so. The more that happens then perhaps the more isolated and foolish those that can't move on will start to feel. One can only hope ....

People will make their own minds up about what they think is 'right and wrong' and what is / isn't appropriate behaviour. But it'd look very odd if you had the J+ admin mob having their annual dinner on their collective Todd whilst the rest of us just got on with the socialising and ignored the divisions that others wish to maintain.

Hi guys,

I haven't really posted on here before, tend to post more over the road (a few people here i've met before) but I just wanted to say it'll be great to see so many people at Play this year and hope to meet some of you at the event. I'll be easy to spot as i'll be with my 4'6 missus and our baby daughter (gotta start her young!)

The facebook comment was very light hearted like the other response. No hatred at all. I'm sure if anyone else would have said the same comment, nothing would have happened.

I'll be there to get a perfect Pac Man, regardless of any hostilities.
Anyhow, if there are hostilities, it'll be reminiscent of some arcades BITD and make the attempt nice and authentic
