Ok folks , can someone please clarify in noobs ( I'm dumb ) on the playstation plus subscription. My son wants a ps 4 , yes 4 !
He is only 12 and has friends on the playstation online play. Now I'm finding this fkn confusing.

The console will have my name/ user I'd as primary.

Q, do I register for playstation plus in my name and my account/ username id, so when he goes on the PS with his username id he can access all online play with his friends. That's if this is possible, unsure if multiple users on the same console can play playstation online with only 1 user registered paid.
Or
Does he have to have his own account on the Playstation plus to play online ? Obviously paid by me.

Each user account has to have its own ps plus payment
So if you register the console and pay for ps plus for your registered name only you can play online with that
everyone else that shares the console has to make there own account and pay seperatley

I think its about 8 pound a month now it went up recently

Ok thanks. That explains that part . As from my reading , if anyone downloads a game from playstation plus to the console , all users can access and play that . So the playstation plus really needs to be in his name . Thanks for help.

The ps plus is like renting though if you stop subscribing you lose access to all of the games

If you register your username and register the PS4 as your Primary PS4 and you pay for the PS Plus membership then any user that logs into that PS4 can have access to PS Plus benefits including games and online play.
I have a PS4 which I log into to play but my son has a PS4 at my ex's house which is registered as my Primary PS4 so that he can use his username on that one and have access to my Digital games & PS Plus.

It may also be worth knowing you can get the Playstation Plus Subscription cheaper via other parties online if you wish to purchase one.

Can you both play online like that though at the same time ?
I seem to remember it logging one of you out when you tried to share a profile and ps plus account

I cant play some games on my system with my son split screen and him get any achivements ect because he dont have his own ps plus
And Im Sure ive had to buy games licences twice for my kids because you couldent family share them
I might be thinking about ps3 tho i dont play much console anymore

I'm not all that clued up about what happens if they both tried to use it on the same console tbh.

My lads have a PS4 each, so have their own account linked to their own console. They also have separate copies of some games too.

The PS Plus is linked to one Profile and all my digital games are purchased on that Profile. This is my Profile.

My Sons PS4 is set as the Primary Console for my Profile but he virtually never logs in on my Profile, he has several of his own.

Whenever I play on my PS4 I have to log in with my Profile or I don't get access to PS Plus or the Digital games.

You cannot log into 2 PS4's at the same time with the same Profile.
The only disadvantage to using the above is that I cannot use any other Profile on my PS4 if I want access to PS Plus & Digital content. But then again I only ever use one Profile unlike my son!!!

I have played COD with him on numerous occasions, we only bought one copy on my Profile. I am logged into my Profile on my PS4 and he can be logged into any Profile apart from mine on his PS4.GadgetFreak2020-11-30 11:36:45
