Points? - Tell us more

Come on don't tease, tell us what the system is with points (rather than posts) sounds exciting.

I notice post count can still be seen in Members profiles.

At a guess it just seems to replace post count and appears to be going up by 1 with each post.

Its not that, my post count is lower than than my points, I also got 10 points in another thread, tell you what Setch, give this thread a Rate Topic ranking and I shall test out a theory.

yes there does appear to be "extra" points that can be allocated based on posts and voting.

Ill wait for someone to clarify it all rather than guess

Hi guys,

1. Currently you get points for an epic thread. This is done by voting it out of 5 medals. The higher the voting the more points you get.

2. You get one point for every post you make

3. If someone thanks your post, because you were helpful. I believe that's currently 5 points.

4. I believe we are implementing an actual answer solution to a technical problem, this will give points and move the post directly under the posters question

Yes points are awarded something like 1 for a post, 1 for a reply, more points are given for thanks or indeed having one of your posts marked as an answer.

We've only just scratched the surface but thats what the pacman fruit are about - more points, the higher pac fruit you'll get but for release we just kept to the existign tiers - this will be updated soon...

Surely offering incentives to get people to post something, meaningful or otherwise, is even more of a gimmick.

I think the answer thing is really useful. It sticks it right up under the original post. If you don't like the features, just don't use them

That's a nice idea.

But offering real world incentives to encourage people to post and/or provide answers to questions? Not sure I'm understanding this one...
