[ukvac] Pole Position - Tech Question !

I've recently acquired a Pole Position cabinet - The game works OK -
but the background graphics seem to have become corrupted - Sky is
white - clouds are inversed - mountains are white - grass is brown !

I'd like to repair this - Can anyone help - or point out what this
might be (faulty rom maybe) ?

Thanks,

Gavin S.

Firstly, is it an Atari pole position PCB or Namco PCB version?

You might be looking at a custom chip gone down, or maybe just a colour
PROM.

I have an upright pole position, with a PP1 and PP2 board.

my pp1 board is fooked, just zero's on screen, my PP2 board works, but
without speech, and the track is all wibbly.. a custom problem i'm assuming
but havn't had chance to look much further at it, just the usual visible
checks.

Pole Position was the first game to rely heavily on custom chips, i thik
there are 10 custom chips on the board in total..

This did cause severe maintenance problems for atari, pole positon was
probably one of their most troublesome of games to produce :) LOTS of custom
video problems, i wouldn't be surprised if your board has one of these
problems :)
