Power monitor directly from mains socket?

Can I plug my Hantarex Polo monitor straight into the mains wall socket?
The tube is Polo/2 28 and the chassis is Polo 25 (230 V ~ 50/60 Hz 100 W)
I have only ever powered it using the cable from an Atari Area 51 Cab.
If yes is there anything to add in between to avoid any mishaps?
My WG was supposed to be ok to power straight from the mains – it was for a while but one I day turned it on and BANG!

My polo 1 and polo 3 have been fine that way. Am I just lucky? I don't think there is a problem but wait for better confirmation!

read the service manual - i think it mentions this.
BUT MAKE SURE THE GROUND IS CONNECTED
if you run any type of switching psu - including the one in the monitor without a ground it can shock you or damage other things.

If ever you have doubts it’s never stupid to ask and get confirmation on any tech stuff

Generally if it’s marked L E N on 3 pin connectors it’s ‘free voltage’ and usually works direct to uk mains but can be wide ranging supply source and SHOULD BE EARTHED AS ADVISED ABOVE eg Polo and Microvitec

2 pin connectors are most often 100vac or range 90-130 ac and do require isolation transformers in the supply cable route
Eg Hatachi or Mitsibutsu etc

Other Hantarex with 4 pin connectors require both mains 240vac and isolated 120-130vac the mains is there for the degaussing coil round the frame to the glass tube while the pin isolated 120 supply feeds the chassis the frame of which IS USUALLY EARTHED separately using the earth bonding loop round all metal cabinet parts again as advised above to limit shock risk

IN ALL CASES YOU SHOULD FREQUENTLY OPEN SELF FITTED MAINS CABLE PLUGS TO ENSURE THE WIRE CONDUCTORS ARE ALL FIRMLY FITTED NEAT INTO THE PLUG PINS AND THE CABLE CLAMP SECURE TO HELP PREVENT EARTH OR OTHER WIRES PULLING LOOSE IN REGULAR USE AND IF CABINETS ARE MOVED WITH A FIXED MAINS CABLE CHECK IT FOR DAMAGE IF ITS LIKELY TO GET TRAPPED UNDER THE MACHINE AND A HARD FLOOR AS THE INTERNAL CONDUCTORS COULD GET EXPOSED OR SEVERED ( no earth )

I haven't got around to running it off the mains yet. I think there's a ground wire attached to the frame. Pretty confident all will be ok.

I had an polo run straight of wall socket with no problems at all. I now have an kortek with the same setup and I don't bother with the PE. I like how my hair lifts when I power it on.
