Id put 7 and XP head to head anyday for boot time.

My career is Enterprise Desktop IT, you could say I know XP and 7 very well, the TCP stack alone boots 2 seconds quicker in 7 X64.

Its all about the motherboard and I can 100% assure you if you are using P4 era hardware, the Motherboard boot time will be as much as a good 7 System in total.

Look forward to videos though.

15 seconds from cold - XP? Which motherboard?

And old Intel 3.2 GHZ HT. The SSD chip is 1GB from a Dell FX160. Ill test boot time when I get a chance.

I got a spare SD if you want to install MicroXp. End of the day XP might be old, but it works! so why use bloatware

Don’t forget that microXP is a heavily stripped version of
XP so boots nice and quick if you also disable all the pre boot crap on the
motherboard

But that's my point you cant disable all the montherboard stuff.

ILl tell you what - I am so sure 7 is faster even out of the box Ill take some time and put it to the test. I have a large virtual environment here:

32 Cores

64GB Ram

2GB/Sec SSD's

I'll stick both versions on VM ware and well see which comes first. Please give me a link to your XP version in ISO format.

I have a setup at home that boots XP dedicated for MAME in about 12 seconds from cold. This is including the BIOS bits. It's running a ridiculously cut down installation from compact flash on a Pentium M 1.8

The Windows boot is about 4 seconds.
