I must confess to helping pulling out the Phoenix cab on Sunday morning though... sorry James. The Bud-meister wanted a competition going. Man I suck at Phoenix... it's bullet hell

Thanks John. Was good to have a chat. I think we only spoke at Replay for about 1 min

The rodeo shooting gallery was the highlight machine for me. Very cool game!

I have no idea... It certainly wasn't my score. Maybe bomjachad the high score? (I think he was pumping John at it anyway lol)

Cheers for all the thank-you's and thumbs up guys.

Just was great to see you all again as always, no worries about the phoenix, the ceiling socket switches are hidden behind after burner for future reference but thanks for not coming and waking me up. Always good as well when someone else offers to brew up in the morning (cheers Stu!).

Big apology to Purity, he came in through the door and I recognised him in my mashed head but couldn't articulate his name in the speech output section for some reason. Sorry dude!

Had a load a nice comments about the music videos running on the screens etc, i'm a picky git and the audio quality was rubbish on a few tracks so i'll be sorting that out before the next one.

My friend Mark who does the catering deserves a huge pile of support, he does this against quite a bit of adversity, he had a bad accident about 10 years ago and it snapped his knee, he's been in constant pain ever since and can't work a regular job as he can't stand up for long periods (so, like 10+ hours in a commercial kitchen). What he puts on for the parties for me is restricted by me, he'd go a lot posher but I figure that simple stuff is best - and easier to clean up after. He really wants to start his own business catering but is struggling with the usual council bull**** about doing catering from home to try and force him into local overpriced industrial units. He's been catering my games events and other parties for about 4 years and i've known him for nearly 15 years.

Seems to be a lack of pictures from this event, previously the threads have been fairly full of them, i'm hearing that a lot of my old threads got hidden/removed. I didn't get chance to take much myself other than a few mins of video and as usual, walk in a room with a camera and the normally loud people go quiet as a mouse :) I'll post what i've got later but i'm playing catch up.

I have a few issues to resolve on some machines that i've noticed, so expect to see a couple of tech questions soon.

Ok, and finally, just to see who has read to the end... The moment you're probably more interested in.... when's the next one? It's looking like the very end of August (31st) or beginning of September (7th/15th). I've a few things to do in the next few months that would prevent another taking place sooner.

I'll confirm exact date in the next few weeks but that's the area that i'm looking at.

I was due to go, but had the kids on the Sat who seemed to be "on a special mission" to wind me up that day and litteraly gave me a headache (normally reasonably well behaved) , coupled with the fact that I get a txt in the evening saying I will have to bring them back later than arranged, cos she was out and wouldn't be back.... (well aware that I had plans for the Sat night). Booo !!!!

Next time..... ;-)

Thank you so much to James for allowing me to come into his lair and have one of the best nights of my life in years! It was very easy to close your eyes and imagine you were right back in the 80's with the sounds of all the cabs and the non-stop 80's music to cap it all off. I was torn between humming along to the game tunes or singing along to the fantastic selection of music which I still love to this day! The only thing that was missing from how I remember arcades of the 80's was the stale cigarette smoke smell, but I'm glad that smell was absent!

I thoroughly enjoyed myself and even managed a few top scores (Out Run and Pole Position) in the process. Haven't played the majority of those games for well over 20 years. I think there were 30 working cabs plus the rodeo shooting gallery and I reckon I played 27 or 28 of them. Hope I didn't outstay my welcome by not leaving until about 3.30am but I was enjoying myself so much that I didn't want the night to end!

Thanks also to Mark the caterer who laid on some great food. It's amazing what an appetite you can work up in 8 hours of non-stop gaming! The food filled a hole nicely.

Already I can't wait for the next party!

Here's a few pics and a couple of vids that I took.
