Guys, you are all awesome and all very welcome any time at all. As i've said before, the next official meet will be at the end of Feb or beginning of March. Luke was a bit dissappointed I wasn't doing the new years eve party I had eluded to but its been a stressful year, the expansion has knackered me out a bit early on and helping with promotion and events, my Mrs asked very nicely if we could just have a break over xmas/new year. We were going to be travelling back 200 miles purely to run a party for everyone else.
Whats that? "But its your duty......" yeah, ok, but my batteries are a bit drained and theres a lot going to be happening next year both arcade and work wise so I hope everyone understands the need for a few days down time.
I will announce the next party date on 5th January.
I have a few fixes to do following Sunday so I hope my fellow VAC brothers in arms will help out and i'll be producing videos again from January now i've got my head around Google+ a bit as I feel YouTube is a sinking ship by its owners actions and will go back to being called Google Video in the next 12 months. I'll keep posting until it changes but might just self host.
Regarding Robotron, there is controversy that the Euro cabs had microswitch joysticks as stock. If Mr Rav is ok with me changing the sticks as its his cab then i'll do it - anyone got any WICO's?
The Defender needs a cap kit and an overhaul internally.
Pole Positions monitor has a vertical sync issue, given my recent experience with that B&W monitor, I think its one of the 2SC454's in the sync amplifier - i'll likely replace all.
Puck Man's monitor doesn't start straight away, you hear static for a second then it shuts down, leave it in this state for a minute and switch off and on again it powers up and runs fine. I suspect dry joints at the very least.
Return Of The Jedi - sprite splitting, alternate lines are offset half way across the screen. Luke said it might be a counter. I can never figure out how anyone understands the sprite section of a schematic different from the background, its all a bunch of EEPROMs and logic chips to me.
A few other minor issues but nothing serious.
I did enjoy playing Track & Field on Sunday, I got 345,000. My personal best is about 369k so far. My board has a top score of 1.8million by Jon Stoodley.
Tempest is a game i'm warming up to going for a high score on, the record on extreme settings was/is 480k. I know the difficulty ramps quite rapidly after board 16 but with practice i'll get there. 115k is my highest so far starting at wave 9.
Thank you all for coming, have a fantastic christmas and i'll see you all again soon.
