Hello and i hope everybody is doing ok in these troubling times.
With time now on my hands i have started work on my many games room related issues.. the first is my Scared Stiff. In brief.. with everything plugged in i get the AV board single tone and then no boot. LED501 is constantly flashing. If i remove EITHER of the CPU ribbon cables the game boots and plays but with no sound or DMD. All fuses have been checked, all voltages appear present and boards all inspected for damage / blown components as well as misplaced connectors etc. This was a fully working game but a few years dry storage have apparently not been kind

Im stumped so before i delve deeper can any of you fine people guide me down the correct path!

Help! I miss the mistresses dulcet tones!

Many thanks in advance.

You’ll need the batteries in. Not sure about wpc95 but gottlieb system 3 won’t boot without batteries. Have you pressed the cpu reset button? Chances are some components are out. Worth a recap on the psu board. Find the manual, they are excellent for troubleshooting.SUPERSPRINT2020-03-30 09:29:42

Indeed so :) It will boot without the batteries.. just a pain doing it blind without the DMD! Lol.
Batteries are back in now anyway. This problem is screaming out as a power problem but all tests check out ok thus far. I have the original manual to hand and it is indeed very good

I know those combind audio/visual boards do fail... Might be worth looking up what the symptoms are of a faulty one.

That says it's a CPU issue. Did you leave the batteries in the game? Or were they in that expansion board some WPC CPUs have?

It was only six months and the batteries were brand new. No signs of any corrosion or visual damage on any of the boards. Very strange

Unfortunately not.. it’s the newest game I have. Loads of everything else but no WPC 95 spares.

Looking at the schematics, the bit that jumps out is the 'low voltage reset circuit' - can you see what this is kicking out 'cos if it's holding the line low then that would stop it booting.
