Pull the roms off that DD3 and stick it in the dishwasher on a 40-50 degree wash, stick the roms back in once it has dried out then get an 'after' pic up

Well the plan is to clean them up, wash them and at some point hopefully have a go at repairing them

Or I could wack em on ebay with the typical listing that most use

Double Dragon 3 Jamma PCB, The last and BEST game of the trilogy
smiley4.gif

Owned for last 10 years, and worked perfect last time I played it, however due to downsizing my house I sold my jamma cab the other year so have no way to test now

condition as new, you won't be dissapointed

To be honest I reckon I am gonna rebuild the Crossbow machine

I think I managed to save enough parts from it and can use most of it as templates to remake the cab and pretty close to original

Loom I think is pretty much complete, PCB complete, have a Crossbow Gun, guys are giving me the original panel for the gun, got all the brackets, plastics etc to do it

The worst thing is, where i'm gonna store it till I have time and space to do the work

I reckon if I could of got it last summer, it probably would of been more solid to have moved about and still would of been in one piece to take apart

There was a cab (can't remember which one!) for sale on eBay in the last 24 months in some sort of junk shop. In the corner I saw the slightest piece of artwork for a Crossbow. I actually emailed the seller and he confirmed he had one in his shop. Infact he was amazed I could actually work out the cab from the smallest piece of artwork shown
smiley36.gif

Anyhow, as I don't delete eBay messages I may actually still have that and thus the sellers eBay ID.

Stay tuned.

Good that you have managed to rescue everything that you have though.

It is often surprising how well PCBs clean up. I use one of those pump up garden sprays full of water and an old tooth brush to scrub round all the components. The spray is quite a fine jet so I find it is good for getting underneath all the chips.

Did someone get that Hang-On Junior in the end?

Yeah I saved it Andy

It's a right wacky machine, I have cleaned it up, and been looking at the insides

Will be posting pics soon of the insides etc

My idea with it, is to fit a pc running mame for all the motorcycle games and pc cycle games, needs a bit of work to do it but nothing that can't be done

Its not a bootleg...

I think its a Hang-On Jr, and the sg1000 console is going to be original, so I think you should consider any sort of conversion a bit like you would any sort of hack to an original machine. You've got a really rare machine there.

You should also realise the handlebars dont move, so you have to tilt the bike left/right to steer... this is a very sucky way of playing any driving game, so you might want to re-think the conversion too :)

There is very little info online about Hang-On Jr, you have whats probably the only one known right now, so look after it.

The guy imported himself from china, also his mate got one which he said has long been scrapped

I am not convinced it's anything from Sega themselves, more likely the Sega sticker has been put on it. As I have seen bootleg Outrun bits before, they never say Sega on them, even though it says OutRun

As the original Hang-On, leaning the bike is more reaslistic to riding a real bike, though that Taito GP Deluxe machine is probably more realistic with the bars tilting sideways and then the bike moving, Though I'm no expert on motorbikes

Unfortunately what ever console was fitted had been stolen a while back, along with the original coin box, which may have even been operated with tokens and not coins

the space on the wooden board with transformers on, is quite small and i would expect some real cheap console or special made chinese game unit was fitted, not enough space for SG1000

Also if it was made by Sega it would have licence stickers and it's certainly no Sega quality workmanship inside, as I consider them the Rolls Royce of Video Game Machines.

Cheap terminal bock strips for all the wiring, though in fairness some of the parts are quite good quality, proper break lever, twist grip throttle etc but the real let down for the original machine is.....

All the bike leaning, twist throttle, Levers only operate switches, not a POT in sight
smiley36.gif

Hang-On Jnr is only in Reference to the Cabinet too, smaller size to fit in anywhere, same as Buggy Boy Junior just being Single Screen and no reference to a different game as some people thought

I would look really cool running Hang-On, but would be fully working with pots for all controls just like the full size original

Hang-On Jr was a master system hardware (ie sg1000) based game... as such, no analogue inputs, so it would be just switches for control.

I'm just saying, i've been collecting a long time, and i've never seen a bootleg machine with purposeful Sega Stickers. Thats suicide in bootlegging terms to actually pass it off as the real thing. The cabinet is too good, the bike is too good, all the features are correct for Hang-On Jr. Show me evidence otherwise on this, becasue i've seen a lot, and nobody ever dares to put real rega stickers on a bootleg machine, thats an open and shut court case, whereas ambiguity means it can be argued. By 1985 copyright laws were hot and you just wouldn't do it.

The only reason i'm piping up on this is because i recently restored a full-size ride-on Hang-On machine, so i know every inch of that damn cab. I also know that it feels a bit crappy to play, to get any sort of real control you need to put your feet down either side, they missed a trick here, they should have let the handlebars counter-steer the tilt.. (i also ride motorbikes :)

Is it possible its a real Sega machine that had the console hacked into it to keep it working? I find it hard to believe a bootlegger would do the fibreglass work and the stickering and the design etc... Its just too good.

I have not seen or heard of a hang-on that was this size before, the regular game would not have played in this cabinet if you are describing switches for everything.. the only thing it could be is hang-on Jr.

what do you think?

mind you, the text is in Chinese... the styling on the bike is very good, as are the decals... the metalwork base however is not the usual Sega faire...

Who knows....

I guess the deciding factor on whether it's a real Sega one or a Chinese knockoff (of Hang On Jnr) is is that Japanese or Chinese on the petrol tank.

But there is Hang-On Jr machine, which the roms are from, same hardware as orginal ain't it

I respect your knowledge Andy, don't worry about that
smiley20.gif

you kept the Hang-On machine then, I know what ya saying on the machine as I have the LE Hang-On too, it's all about balance really and as you say, the bars should start the bike tilt really, so you can go back the other way with bars to shift the bike back again.

This looks pretty good from Tatio and would be interesting to play it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4fS4q8ohDk

Poor video but can see the bars move, then bike

I will get more pics done soon, bit busy at the mo

But I am pretty sure as I said, the sega sticker on the back of the bike is just a newer stickers someone has put on it, not from when they made the machine. there is no reference anywhere else to Sega but like booty Outrun parts, they never say Sega only OutRun

So as you say a machine Saying Hang-On wouldn't bother them

It is pretty mad they have done all the Fibreglass bike for what seems to be a real poor game

one thing you won't believe what was in it is this

cartforgame.jpg

nope it's not the game cart
smiley36.gif
it's an 8 Track tape and player

ahh jeez its a mess.

Sounds like someone slapped on hang-on and Sega stickers then...

8-track? thats crazy funny. I would love to hear whats on it... needs some restoration there...

I just wonder if Sega had some mini hang-on fibreglass bikes made up, but never made machines? the fibreglass shells turn up on the market somewhere and a Taiwanese company decides to make a machine out of it... This is also not unheard of and i can think of a few examples...

Oll : its definately Chinese, and i think its actually traditional, which indicates the machine was made in Taiwan.. i'll get my friend to translate it and post back..
