So I decided to take the plunge with some new hardware for my JVS driving cab.

So take 1 of these..

and one of these.

and then try and squeeze it in here.

First of all I hooked it all up to see if the thing would actually work with the JVS I/O that is in the ID cabs, good news it does.

I used a 500W PC power supply to feed the Lindbergh so had to squeeze that in as well, but in the end it all fits, I have since cleaned up the messy wiring that was a rats next when this picture was taken.

The controls map very well with an ID/OR2 cab, shifter points & view buttons all map straight through but there is an extra button which is required to play the game.

BOOST !!

I generally use the credit button on the M3 Panel as my "extra button" this works as the item throw button in MKGP so I ran a new line from here to pin 28 on the JVS and boost was all up and running.

The final result was this..

Next up I think I am going to replace the CRT with the Sega LCD conversion so I can play these games at a decent resolution..

For FFB yes there are additional boards required, sadly there is feck all info on this so its not easy to work out what is required, im just pulling info out of all the manuals to see whats what but the cost of these parts is massive so not sure what the plan is here.

There is a RS232 - RS422 conversion board and I assume the Servo Board is RS422 so that the first 2 parts of the puzzle, not even sure if the ID or M3 FFB system is compatible either..

But plenty to keep me busy during the winter months.

Nice work. The Chihiro unit used to look big compared to the Naomi, but this Lind is a beast!

I don't know much about the Lindbergh except that the feedback boards are serial not midi and they cost a packet - 500 quid from Sega I read

We all thought midi drive boards for Naomi/Chihiro were expensive at £150 a pop a couple of years ago!!

I'm pretty sure that Race TV uses a standard Model3 steering assembly (with added boost button) so if you do get a feedback board I think you could get ffb working in your iD cab.

So do you need to install from the DVD at each power on or does it get loaded onto a hard drive or SSD? Hope it does as it must take a long time to install initially?

Yeah I know.. Part of the fun is trying to figure it all out.

Yeah that’s true, unless you have a Wife and kids and get no
freaking time to get fun things like that done, because apparently they are not
important!

No you don't need to install the DVD every time, in fact the DVD drive for the Lindbergh is an extra and its not an internal drive, the games get loaded onto the internal hard drive.

I used an external DVD to install which took a little while to complete and then boot time on power on is about 5 mins, it goes through loads of checks etc to make sure its all working.

As for the feedback system, you can use the M3 dash but you need 2 extra boards, RS232 - 422 converter board and a new Servo board, the latter of which is the £500+ from sega.

And thats pretty much it, the rest is plug and play in an ID cab.

I will of course now be updating my JVS Input switcher to work with Lindbergh games as well.
