Sega Rally Twin

One of the only "real arcade games" left in my local arcade was a twin Sega Rally. Like most arcades these days everything else is redemption games, kiddie rides or Raw Thrills games. I chanced my arm last week and asked if the Sega Rally was for sale and was told to "make an offer". I did and he accepted!

Collected it today with some help from John Bennett! Cabs in good condition, some screen burn but nice bright monitors. Both game boards working and no chunks missing out of the plastics or dash. I just need to replace the left side wheel and it's good to go.

Turned up in a Luton this morning to pick it up

Took 4 of us to manoeuvre it round the other machines and outside. It JUST got out of the double doors sideways with 1/2 inch to spare!

Tried to get it up the tail lift in one piece but it was wishful thinking! Kept tipping backwards so we bit the bullet and spent 30 mins separating them, praying the rain would hold off!

Much easier to get in the van as singles!

Next challenge was getting them in my garage which has a 1" lip on the floor. We had to get creative and stick the cabs on the tail lift, lower it half way and the reverse the van back into the garage so we could drop the tail lift over the lip.

We got there in the end!

Huge thanks to John who took 5 hours out of his day to help me with this :DJ692021-08-01 08:26:56

That’s absolutely fantastic!! I love threads like this!!

Congratulations on this. I’d absolutely love a twin sit down Daytona, but of course I don’t have anything like the space.

Is this one you can use other games in eventually? I know very little about dedicated driving cabs…

One quick question… how did you mount it upside down on the ceiling of the Luton?!

I've reuploaded the picture twice. Not sure why the site keeps rotating it!?

Looks great, glad you were able to get it into your garage!

Interestingly, they were happy(ish) to see it move on as it only made about £20 a week.
Would have taken more if I was around there

Definitely. Although neither John or I managed to finish the easy course on our first go

Great purchase and excellent game. The single player is so addictive for gradually improving your times. I peaked at 3'22"98, but others have gone much faster. And the link up mode is great fun.

Nice work getting it home - I've used the tail-lift-over-the-lip trick as well!

That looks amazing, good find. Would love to have the space for a twin sit down.

Actually noticed that Schmee 150 has one in his new warehouse in that video he did with Jonny Smith on the Late brake show.

Took the seat off the right side today to try and straighten the rail out. The dust inside the game base

Surprised the game works at all!

Anyone got any Sega rally/Daytona seat rails kicking about for sale? Both sides have one rail tthat is straight and free moving, and one which is bent and is a git to try and straighten out!

Yes, it looked horrid under there, fans jammed up with dust.

There was half a pie preserved between the two sides. It turned to dust when I kicked it (although the birds still wanted it).

Well done my man. Absolutely love this game. Played mainly on the Sega Saturn. The music is epic. Would love to have one of these but not got the room nor credit with my wife. But do give me shout if you ever get bored of it! ????
