One of the only "real arcade games" left in my local arcade was a twin Sega Rally. Like most arcades these days everything else is redemption games, kiddie rides or Raw Thrills games. I chanced my arm last week and asked if the Sega Rally was for sale and was told to "make an offer". I did and he accepted!
Collected it today with some help from John Bennett! Cabs in good condition, some screen burn but nice bright monitors. Both game boards working and no chunks missing out of the plastics or dash. I just need to replace the left side wheel and it's good to go.
Turned up in a Luton this morning to pick it up
Took 4 of us to manoeuvre it round the other machines and outside. It JUST got out of the double doors sideways with 1/2 inch to spare!
Tried to get it up the tail lift in one piece but it was wishful thinking! Kept tipping backwards so we bit the bullet and spent 30 mins separating them, praying the rain would hold off!
Much easier to get in the van as singles!
Next challenge was getting them in my garage which has a 1" lip on the floor. We had to get creative and stick the cabs on the tail lift, lower it half way and the reverse the van back into the garage so we could drop the tail lift over the lip.
We got there in the end!
Huge thanks to John who took 5 hours out of his day to help me with this
