Hi all

I am working on building a Sega racing Frankenstein Monster cab.

Its a Sega Touring car frame

Sega Indy 500 ROM

Sega Daytona Steering

Indy 500 motor drive boards

Touring car Audio Amps

So far things seem good, tho I have not checked audio, and I have not managed to wire up the Steering Feedback, due to the different systems.

The FFB PCB, outputs a 4 pin connection - 3 for the 110v Motor, one Earth (I think) - this would be used for the Indy 500 type Steering rack.

the Steering rack I have is a Daytona USA one. This uses a 110v reversible motor, and a Magnetic Particle Clutch.

Does anyone know the pinout of the Indy 500 Motor board - 838-11966. The Indy 500 Manual just says `Motor Out` for all 3 pins.

I need to know what these outputs do, so I can work out how to convert them to use a Motor and Clutch, rather than just the Motor.

Any suggestions - other than give up or replace the kit ?

As an alternative.... Would the Daytona USA board - 838-10646, work with the Indy 500 system ?

On Indy 500, there is a Motor control board (838-11967), and a Motor Power Board (838-11966).

It looks like the Daytona one (838-10646) may do the job of both ?

Can anyone help?

thanks

Simon

A Daytona one would partially work, but a few feeback commands sent would be lost or misunderstood.

Each game generally has its own program ROM on the feedback board.

thanks for that info..

Any ideas on how to connect the Indy 500 board to a Daytona steering mech ?

Can't be done, two different types of technology.

Servo is different to reversible 24v motor that daytona uses.

Andy,

Thanks mate.

Do you know the pinout on the Sega servo board ? the wiring diagram just says `motor out` for all three pins ?

Thanks.

Not sure on the pin out as those wires are 100v power, remember there is another 10 wires that also go to the servo motor (well they go to the servo encoder on the back of the motor and without that you'll get jack)

Actually the Indy 500 motor is different, there is no encoder like scud to present.

All I know is the pins are u v and w and a gnd. Don't really understand how it works though.

thanks Andy

I`ll play about on google a lil, and with a multimeter on the board for now, to see if I can make anything from it.

I am looking at an Indy motor on ebay...

I am wondering if I can fix it onto the daytona rack, mechanically.......

we`ll see :p
