I would never leave Virgin for Sky! Internet is 5h1t hot! If you are near contract end, look at their new Packages as I was on an old package for yonks, changed it and got more for less Money

I got 2 x V6 Boxes, Sky Sports and Movies, 300MB Internet for £100 per Month! Waiting to see if Hyperoptics will ever be available in my area as 1GB up/down

Ring Virgin, tell them you'd like to leave because of how much they are now charging you. Be firm. Quote some prices you've seen from Sky for new customers (or just make some up).

You'll be surprised at what they throw at you to make you stay.

I fail to see how that is a bargain, I get BT full speed fiber for £26 a month, and with that speed TV/movies/UHDs are easy to find for free ;) £75 better off!
Not saying they are cheap, but I DL about 1TB + a Month mostly Torrents and I get no hassle from them

Also run a Plex Media Server with about 30 mates that use it. Got mates at work that keep getting Letters from their ISP because they DL a Movie Torrent

I also dont use a Proxy!!

I also dont use a Proxy!!

Never had a warning letter from any ISP, except Virgin, got told off for downloading too much when I was on the top tier 'unlimited'. No VPN stuff here either.

Also, just 1tb a month?

I was going to reply to this thread a few days ago to say how wonderful Virgin are now that they've reduced my bill. But I wouldn't recommend the shysters if they were the only supplier left in the world.

Short story... like the OP my bills have crept up a few £ here and there to the point I'm paying well over the odds (IMO). Called to discuss numerous times only to be told by the Indian (trying to sound like a cockney geezer) what a great deal I'm on and how lucky I am. Finally managed to get through to the 'disconnections dept 1 month ago. Explained yet again that we have not used the TV box for 3 yrs. WE SIMPLY DO NOT WATCH TV and I wanted it taken off the bundle and the price altered appropriately. No problem. Job done. Price came down to half. Sorted. I was happy....... Till today. Got my bill with a breakdown of my 'services'. The scumbags have dropped my BB speed from 150 to 100.

Got through tonight to disconnections and told them to shove it up their a*****. "No problem Sir. That's £190 early disconnection fee to pay." They weren't interested in the fact that they never mentioned the 'upgraded' speed as they had sent me an email with these details and I had 14 days to cancel.... and I didn't. I never got any email. I get everything from Virgin through to my email addy... bills, marketing, other sh*te, but not this one. The crafty gits had sent it to my wife's email! It's the only email they've ever sent her! She hasn't used that account, or even accessed it for years. But as far as Virgin were concerned they sent it to an email address linked to our account.

Total SCUMBAGS.

So why not change your package up to the higher speed, and then regain a 14 day period

Otherwise give OFCOM a call.

Exactly what I have done. Cost £11 per month.

Looked around today for an alternative but there's nothing. Absolutely nothing..... unless I want an even bigger drop in speed. I can't believe the closest fibre broadband is still only around 65meg.

Have to say that the 200 I'm now on is noticably faster than my previous speed. But I still hate Virgin with a passion.
