With the development of the Universal joystick starting to get to the closing straight a few people have asked if I can do other joysticks.

Been looking at a few, Defender style 2 way, has been asked quite a number of time though these already exist, but people seem to want a local supplier that may be cheaper and easier to get, and few of the Atari joysticks.

The biggest request seems to be the SNK and Data East rotary joysticks. These are the ones with the usual 8-way directional and 12-way rotation.

I've both to hand here and will be pulling the SNK one apart this weekend to have a look at its design.

If anyone is interested in this, let me know and I can see if it's worthwhile doing.

I've been asked about the 24-loop version for the likes of Caliber .50 and Touchdown Fever. These run on a rotary encoder as far as I'm aware, though don't have any to pull apart and have a look.

If anyone has one that they'd like to sell, I'd be interested.

If you can repro the yellow hexagonal topper to fit on the Wico version of this I'd buy a few. The wico version has a ball top which isn't as easy on arthritic hands ( I posted this before on the wrong thread duh).
Someone pointed out that this has already been done and posted an etsy link but the prices are ridiculous at over £100 including shipping.

I make the Universal, full joystick for around that price. Mad.

Do you know what the thread type is on the WICO model? These Universal joysticks use M8 threads.
#6-32 x 3/4" socket set screw I think
edit: dug out my socket set and removed the threaded screw using a H1/16. This is the screw used on the ball top and the screw used on the cylindrical top uses a shorter screw about 18mm long

According to this blog/post it uses the same as the data east type. Unsure if that's true or not?

All my WICO sticks with a ball top are moulded on as far as I know. Will have to check.

I do have the Data East version. Will check the thread pitch on it and see if I have any hex grub screws that match.
