Hi guys

so ive had this snow bros in my possession a while now.

the game wasnt running at all.

Fist things first, replace the custom audio chip that was hanging off...

So probing about a bit and reaading other repair logs i decided to change the 4 x oki @ A3 and A5 & B3 & B5. also the nec @ F4.

no avail, still dead.

so only been a small PCB i decided to SLICE the TTL logic.

Nothing, all passed ok, what a cracking tool the SLICE is too, thanks to GadgetFreak.

So moving onto the colour ram i decided to piggyback with good working new stock.

Hmmmm i have some life at last :)

So decided to remove and socket these 2 rams and placed the new rams in their place.

To my surprise i was greeted with these 2 screens :)

Up and running but the sound was very scratchy.

so i opted to socket the YM3812

As in the test menu lots of sounds were spot on crystal clear, but others were scratchy, so thinking some of the channels were a bit fluffed.

socketed again and put a YM3812 from another pcb in its place, and hey presto all sounds were crystal once more.

parts used....

4 x oki M41464-10

1 x nec D41101C-1

2 x Hitachi HM6116P-2

1 x custom sound ic

1 x yamaha YM3812

rough time to fix...circa 6 motnths lol

Would like to thank GadgetFreak & CMONKEY for their help in this repair.

thank you guys, your help and wisdom was greatly appreciated.

Well done Dave. Nice to have another board up and running. Snow Bros is a fun game and a powerful board to write homebrew code for. With support for 512 sprites and no tile layers it makes you approach game/demo design from new angles. And thanks to Macro and Haze for writing the MAME driver for this game.
