Speakers

Hey guys, just a question regarding sound for a cab. Again, still in the design stages presently. It will be for Mame but a Nintendo cab (scratch built, so no classic cabs will be slain in the process), same design as DK but...putting an additional speaker hole at the front. What is the best way to go with speakers? I've been told to grab pc speakers and de-case...also been told to splice car speakers together as another option. Any ideas? All input will be greatly appreciated!

Call me a snob, but PC speakers in a cab is just wrong, don't they usually have something like 2" drivers? The people that do that seem to be the type to gaffa tape in LCD monitors into their cabs as well.

(although there's no info on the IC used).

Then just buy whatever size speakers you need, get fullrange (yeah car speakers are a good fit, as long as the IC is fine with 4ohms).

Not really. Potentially yes, it all depends on how you wire your speakers to get the current draw right, and whether your sub has a low-pass filter built in.

You can wire speakers in parallel or in series to control the overall load on the amp.

Actually that device is mono. Think I will splice a good quality 2.1 pc sub setup with car speakers. Seems to be what most people are suggesting. Easy to do and good sound quality too.Rawsome2013-11-11 15:58:22
