Are you doing all this without an actual cab to refer to - i.e. from photos and people giving you dimensions (including the bezel)?

I have done quite a bit of research before starting, I did find some drawings in CAD on the internet and using photos etc I did redraw the CAD data which I then transferred to plywood to make the templates.

Late to the party on this but WOW...
What an incredible job. I only wish I had the talent and patience to achieve half of what you have.
If you decide to sell the cabinet parts I'd be interested in having a go at assembling one of those.
I owned two originals back in the day, sold the last one for £400, think they have gone up a bit since then.

Hi All,
Sorry I have not posted anything for a while. What with Covid and and trying to obtain materials was a nightmare plus my wife wanting to fully redecorate the room and time has passed quite quick.
I have however managed to get back in the arcade and do a bit more at the weekend with the back of the cockpit. What do you think?

I need to make the metal strips to cover the edge of the perspex and try to get some bronze perspex for the cockpit ( there seems to be a perspex shortage with Covid ). Then move the monitor back 80mm and lastly I need to put in the rubber mat on the bottom and I think I will be all finished. ( Finally )!!!!!
Can I ask some advice regarding the game installed, it is Sega Star Wars Trilogy at the moment but would it be better installing the original Atari Star Wars game .
You advice would be much appreciated
I have not had a chance to build the vac former yet so I thought get this cockpit finished first, I will use the Autumn and Winter to design and build the vac former ready and prototype a few bits then start the next cockpit early Jan with plans on vac forming my first bezel in March.
The price of the vac form sheets are not cheap so I need to gather some money first to start prototyping, may sell the few PCB's I have to get the cash for the sheets. I will see in Feb if I need some extra cash first.

Still brilliant.
As much as I like Star Wars Trilogy and Star Wars Arcade, you definitely need the original game or Empire for photos (and visitors!) at least.

I use the Yoke to play the full game, the joystick for star wars trilogy is the analog type which is the same as the yoke so I built the interface using the arduino which USB directly to the PC as a game controller.
I works great, no lag.
I kept the yoke wiring as original and used the original connector so the yoke is standard.
The only issue with using the yoke is when you have to do the bonus levels with a light saber, the controls are up side down but you do get used to it. I have seen a mod for that somewhere but it does not spoil the game.
