won a Zaxxon PCB and marquee for the bargain price of 17.50UKP inc. postage from an Ebay user named retrocoin--uk. He has four positive feedback points and has been registered since early may. His prefered payment method was Nochex, no Paypal was offered so I put a cheque in the post yesterday afternoon.
This morning I received an Email from Ebay stating that the users account has been suspended and urging me to cancel my payment. The one email I got from the user seemed genuine enough and I would have thought that if he were going to pull off a scam he could have used a more desirable board as a lure. What would you do next ?.
In case anyone recognises his details :
Ali De Moura
39 Nursery Road
London
N14 5QD

I wish I had kept a copy of the picture in case anyone recognises it as theirs.

Cliff.

he name rings a bell.

Also goes by the name of mystic_anatolia and does indeed have a PayPal
account, although it's probably been removed.

He must be a fraudster as he has 3 different ebay accounts, all removed!

Fingers crossed you've not been scammed.

uckily I still have time to cancel my cheque which I will be doing when I get home from work.
I was originally wondering wether I should give this person the benefit of the doubt as it was a bargain price. Now I am definately going to cancel.

Thanks,

Cliff.

uys,
I have just seen all this, and can add to the intrigue!
Bought a Moon Patrol PCB for £20 off him (finished 26th April), and 'cause
he was in North London said I would come and pick it up, rather than pay the
£10 postage.
I was a bit late in getting the cheque off, and have been lax about chasing,
but I emailed him on 21st May after I noticed he had gone unregistered
(never had an email off eBay), and he still replied.
He sent me his mobile number twice (07957 522323) which I just called for
the first time and no answer - I will call him again later, see replies from
him below.
I have to point out here - the cheque has never been cashed, just checked
the period he has had it and the £30 has never come out of my account, what
is going on?!
If anyone does fancy meeting up and paying a visit, I will come along!
Cheers,
Paul

>Can I come and pick it up as I am in N London?
Hi mate, yeh no probs. You would have to collect today or tommorow as Im on
holiday until tuesday then. Also collection would be from Leyton which is
where i work. Give us a ring to arrange a time/place 07957522323

>Actually I will send a cheque...
Hi mate yeh no problem thats ok
I checked my ebay details and had the wrong house number on there. You
should send cheque for £30 to :
Joanna Wojcik, 39 Nursery road, London, N145qd. I had 36 by mistake not sure
if this showed up.

>When are you going to bank the cheque and send the board?
I have recieved your check and will bank today. As soon as its cleared ill
post your board out to you. Any problems give us a ring on 07957522323 - if
you cant get through leave a message and ill call you back as ill be at work

Just my 2p worth... He's probably just incompetent, rather than dishonest. If he just messed a few people around enough for them to file some kind of complaint he could lose his eBay registration(s) (it takes 5 reports, doesn't it?) As for having two names - maybe after getting one account stopped he opened another in his girlfriend's name? That happens a lot. eBay has been so crap the last few years that I've taken to only buying low value goods that I could afford to lose the money on, or more expensive items as pay-on-collection, and I restrict my searches to within 40 miles of my postcode. I see there's a nice looking Tempest within that range just now :) Cheerio, Ross -- Dr Ross Hamilton (ross@djse.com), Director / Lead Developer DJSE Limited, Grove House, Well, Alford, Lincolnshire, LN13 0ET Tel: 01507 466 797 -:- Mob: 07970 801 661 -:- Web: www.djse.com -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I won an auction for 6 PCBs (the usual 'assume not working' quote) from him and paid by Nochex. He emailed a day or so later to say that the boards were on the way and they arrived the next day.

The boards were;

Buck Rogers

Frogger

Gyruss

Hyper Olympic

Qix

Xevious

All the Konami boards are working and the other three are part-working.

And, to top it off, I put a bid on the Side Arms PCB as well and had an email from eBay warning me about the seller becoming unregistered and telling me not to deal with him if he tries to contact me to offer the board for sale privately...

Guess I was lucky to finalise the sale before he got kicked out.

Don't you just hate it when your Linux installation changes something
fundamental and doesn't bother to inform you about it?

Apologies to anyone who has emailed me in the last 36 hours or so - your
email is either bounced or lost. Please resend!

Thanks
