The arcade PCB is a completely different game to the saturn/Ps1 home ports.

Home ports are re-skinned Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
Arcade it it's own unique game but plays more like mortal kombat.

I like it and picked it up for around £100 on ebay a few years ago. It's a cheapish PCB in UK/Europe but expensive in USA for some reason.

Was going to mention this the other week but forgot, I watched the Movie :( what a load of dross

A Movie based on a fighting game with Martial Arts which didn't feat much fighting like the game and then they base a game on a crap movie and i hadn't got round to looking at the game itself and wondered if it was as bad as the movie

It's a terrible film but saved by Raul Julia playing it superbly.

And of course Kylie in that outfit!! Fuck the current war on men, I'm objectifying her and giving zero apologies

The game is ok, probably the worst Street Fighter but still ok for a few games.

I watched DOA - Dead Or Alive one as well, this was more up my street even some nonsense about injecting them with Nanobots  yeah as if, next they'll be saying Nanobots can enter brain cells and spy on what they're doing

Each fighter is analyzed in a lab - overseen by Donovan's head scientist, Weatherby - to record their strength, are all injected with nanobots which record their abilities, and are issued with ID bracelets, which show the name of their next opponent in the tournament.

it's an interesting one, though maybe worth trying on emulation or MISTER first! To me it has low replay interest after you admire the graphics and motion cap etc.

It was meant to be capcom/street fighter series answer to the mortal kombat graphics style that had taken over some of their fighting game market. If you really love the others in the series (SF2, SF III etc) you'll likely find most of the nuance and balance is gone. It hit the arcades and I remember nobody really got into it the same way they did SF2CE/HF MK etc.

The ones that always got huge groups of players were
sf2
sf2 champion edition and turbo/hyperfighting
Street Fighter Alpha 3.. that one brought that great player vs player balance and variety
SF3 second impact or third strike
SFiV

I've not seen 5 or 6 in arcades at all- I think somewhere in the SFIV cycle play moved primarily to PC/steam/online

Totally diffrent play mechanics.
And stiff look puts me off.

Seems really rushed ,
Love the girls holds that look like they are wrapping their pony tails round each others knecks very cool…

I’m sure their are plenty of martial arts films where the long hair is used as a weapon

Yeah the animations seem a bit rushed to me too. You almost have to know "Guile's flash kick has this hitbox on the SF2 series" to know how to use stuff.. graphics aren't quite matching actions as nicely as in the CPS2/3 ones

See the company incredible tech had history with capcom ..
So this was just a gimme for them ..
Probably had short time to code the game to capitalise on the film ..
So I expect they did amazingly well with what they had time wise .

I heard van dam bluffed all the fund of the movie for his pay.
Which sucked the life blood from the film robbing us all of a decent street fighter motion picture . And he got the girl dating kylie - lucky so & so
Lucky lucky lucky
Apart from some good manga ones 👍

Raul Julia, if you didn't know better you'd think name was wrong way round and it's a woman called Julia Raul

Sites I used to go to they sent me to one and said contact name was Dave Archner, lucky for me I knew it wasn't some bloke called Dave, it was Asian girl called Archana Dave :ROFLMAO:

I don't think they rushed this game. It has a lot of hidden features and secrets, which I doubt anyone would have wasted time coding instead of polishing the game. I believe the game turned out the way it did because decisions were made to target U.S. consumers, mostly casual players. This explains the simplifications in gameplay, such as how any attack that was charged in the regular SF II can now be executed instantly with simple input combinations like back-forward or down-up. However, there are also features for hardcore players, such as counters, juggles, and attacks that require pressing unusual combinations of buttons.

In other words, anyone who digs deep into the game mechanics will realize that it's thoughtfully designed. However, to regular SF II fans, it may seem like nonsense. On the other hand, casual players will find it cool, which I believe was the main goal of this title. From my experience, when I played it in the '90s, it was fun and exciting for an 8-year-old. Compared to regular SF II, it was criticized simply for being different, and people were unwilling to dive into the mechanics. In my opinion, there's potential for both fun and competitive gameplay if approached with an open mind.

It's a strange name Raul Julia. He's the main reason i'll watch the film if it's on. It was his last movie. I think he knew the film was going to be terrible so he hammed it up and had some fun. His performance is way above the rest of it.

Haven't seen DOA before but will have to give it a try. It passed me by when it came out and have never seen it show up on Tv, Not that i really watch much Tv anymore so may have been on a few times.
