Hi everyone,
I'm hoping to reach out to some of the old-school operators, technicians, or collectors here who might be able to help me solve a nostalgic mystery from my childhood.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, I spent my summers at the "Kommandørgården Camping" site on the island of Rømø in Denmark. The absolute highlight of the trip was the campsite’s arcade room, which was packed with amazing machines during the high season (around 20 arcades and 5 pinballs, including The Addams Family later on).
But the king of them all was an original, dedicated 1985 Atari Gauntlet 4-player cabinet.
I was under 10 years old at the time. A technician once mentioned to another back then that the machine cost around 30,000 DKK to import.
Sometime in the late 90s, the machine (and all the others) disappeared. Today, the room sadly just serves as a dusty storage facility.
My question to the community: Does anyone here know which operator or rental company supplied the Rømø area back then? And does anyone know what happened to this specific Gauntlet cabinet from Kommandørgården? Since the Danish arcade market was heavily cleared out by UK and German collectors in the late 90s/early 2000s, I'm wondering if it was scrapped or if it might actually be sitting in a private collection somewhere today.
If anyone has any leads, or if you happen to own a dedicated 4-player Gauntlet with an old Danish operator sticker inside, I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for reading and for this awesome forum!
P.S.
It might be unimportant now but I roamed the highscore board as Merlin on second place as "JEN" for years. Might be the final hint.
Thanks!
Edit: I also posted this Search under a new thread in the Danish Forum www.spille-maskiner.dk via google translate
but it hasn't been approved yet I think.
