After restoring both springs I continued with the base plates.
The screws were stuck, so I decided to use my Dremel to cut the screws... inside my room, because it was standing in the attic and it was no option for me to go downstairs with it.

It took quite some time before I got them loose, because I didn't dare to let the shower of sparks fly into my room for too long in case it would set it on fire haha
But that was not the only reason why it took long...
Because I wore glasses, I conveniently did not wear safety glasses... BAD IDEA!
A spark went under my glasses and got into my eye... there was a burning pain in my eye, water didn't help so I went to the hospital.
They were not so happy to see me as it was in covid time and they were very busy and not amused to see someone who acted stupid by not putting safety glasses on. Oops... After they removed a piece of Arcade history out of my eye the pain was gone, I bought the most expensive safety glass I could find, went home and continued the job. In the end I got all screws removed.

Unfortunately it was all rusty, I had to remove the carpet which I did clean earlier because I couldn't wait and wanted to see quick and easy results... cleaned it for nothing. 😊
This was also the goodbye for the original RS Taichi inc. sticker.

I guess the decision of removing the carpet was a good one...
The surface was too big for sanding by hand, so I bought a grinder and that saved me a lot of time!

There were all dents in the plates caused by rust, I didn't took the time to make it all flat. Actually I also don't know what material to use for that purpose on metal.
The most important thing was that I did beat the rust on these parts too.
A picture of the restored parts so far... waiting to be reassembled:
