It is Rydeen by Yellow Magic Orchestra. The original LP track I have
posted to www.pyramidm.demon.co.uk/Rydeen.mp3
YMO BTW did an LP of Namco videogame music too, and a few other VGM
related tracks :)
Anybody want me to post more ?

I used to operate games in 1982 when the game first came out. I remember
seeing an ad by Sega in Coin Slot classifieds for a universal conversion
kit. When I saw the game I had to have one. Upon ringing Sega all their
allocation had been sold and I was told to expect no more as only 25
kits were produced for the Japanese & Euro markets. Sega Europe was
based in London and sold out of all their kits in the U.K. so none made
it to mainland Europe.
My quest for this board started then (1982) I tracked down a few arcades
that had SL. Pleasure Pastimes, Manchester. Ashworths, Morecambe,
Blackpool Tower & the arcade you mentioned in the IoM. BTW the IoM
arcade was owned by the same person as Pleasure Pastimes here in
Manchester. Suffice to say no amount of bribery would part anybody from
SL!
The Manchester one eventually fell fate to a fire :-(
The Morecambe one went on to be operated until about 1992 and then
dissapeared :-(
The Blackpool one was first Leisure ('nuff said)
The IoM I don't know ?

I put out feelers amongst the PCB sellers at the time and I eventually
got one in 1987 (yes it even took me 5 years!) for 200 from one of my
PCB sellers in Leicester who had located one in Japan.

Around this era I did keep mental note of unusual/rare games - do you
remember seeing/playing any of these?

Star Trek Cockpit - Sega (Mr B's Blackpool)
Red Baron Cockpit - Atari (Mr B's Blackpool)
Black Widow - Atari (Rhyl)
Hercules Pinball - Atari (HUGE! - Mr B's Blackpool)

SL is one my "project" machines and one of the handfull of PCB based
games that I would care to collect. The others are:

Holeland - Tecfri
Libble Rabble - Namco
Marchen Maze - Namco
Asterix - Konami

Cheers

Dear all,

Since Lee gave us some pointer to the mame Super Locomotive and then Baz giving us some trivia on the game, it got me to thinking about some unidentified Sega games i had in the garage. All I knew previously about SL was that it was made by Sega in 1982. Some of the boards i had were silkscreened as that year. Using the Romident facility didn't reveal the name of the game so it got stashed away until Lee game us that pointer. I dug out the SL data on mame and low and behold it looks like one of the boards is indeed SL. Alas it doesn't seem to be complete and this is where i need some help from you Baz. I think i'm missing two PALs at locations IC20 & IC30. If they are socketed then if you have the facitily to read PALs (assuming they are unlocked) then i'd really appreciate a copy.

This is a lesson to us all as i still think that most games are still available in the UK (somewhere) it's just the tricky bussiness of finding them.

Peter

BTW Anybody ever heard of a Sega game (1985) called Teddy Boy Blues. I've got one to repair for an operator and he claims that only a handful ever came into the country also.

Sure thing Peter.

Well I agree ! If you get off your A**e and do the legwork "YOU" too
will find them at the prices you want.
Don't complain at "JT prices" as his prices probably reflect the hard
work of sourcing the games and collecting them from the farthest reaches
of the country and getting them going as a few seasoned collectors would
know already.
For example, I in the space of the last two weeks have done 3 deals
a) A non working but mint Defender with enough spare parts to populate 3
empty cabs
b) 2 Battlezones 1 full size the other Cabaret along with 2 Space
Invaders
c) Yesterday 15 classic machines including Battlezone, Planet
(Asteroids) Stellar Castle (Star Castle), yet another Star Wars Cockpit
(Working) and Speed Freak !!! :) ,Pacland, Scramble, Head On etc.

I also have another lead on another working Star Wars cockpit.
All you who moan about finding Star Wars etc. should consider that I got
my first Star Wars machine in only 1997. I now have probably the largest
number of SW's in one place in the world!, all sourced individually in
the U.K.

So get on yer bike. Go find. No excuses !
