I remember seeing original boxed Star Wars figures in various thrift shops and bargain bins throughout the 80s for cheaper than 99p. They were usually the least popular figures but a bargain. I never bought any though as I was into something else by then or already owned the figure maybe? Possibly spending money was saved for the arcade?

I walked into a newsagents in 1987/88 and saw a wall of Star Wars Figures for 75p each! The guy serving said i could get a big discount if i brought a lot of them! Because he said they weren't really selling! Probably could of got them for like 30p each! Sniff. I got a few MOC star wars now. I love the shop stock feeling and display of vintage star wars figures.

Yeah, those walls / displays of cardboard backed blister packs were quite something. Used to love going in a toy shop or supermarket knowing I could choose a figure. An unforgettable moment was Asda Llandudno buying Boba Fett. Disappointed the rocket couldn't be shot out though lol! They used to have bargain basement Speccy games like Brian Bloodaxe and Spellbound in that Asda too.

It was the back of those star wars cards especially when it got to the jedi run with that iconic yellow/orange back with all the different figures lined up. I was a poor kid in the 80s so a star wars figure was a combo of saving up pocket money of bday money so the figure had to be chosen carefully 😄 Its crazy how i remember Boba Fett figure being so sought after by kids (even without the rocket firing missile 😄) everyone just loved the look of him, v cool. Yes bargain Spectrum tapes. I remember a newsagents on my walk back from secondary school had the Mastertronic 99p 1.99p Spectrum/Commodore/Amstrad tapes display in the windows. Used to love looking at the cover artwork and imagining if the game was any good, but to find out now, nearly all were very rubbish 😄😅

My family were also poor and it was special occasions or savings that went into anything I owned. Although my grandparents used to spoil us (me and my bro) and I remember them bringing a couple of Star Wars figures already owned when I was about 7 or 8. Kicked off because we already had them (bloody little brats!). Should have kept the copies in the boxes as spares but they were returned and swapped for something else. Spectrum games eventually would be easy to acquire as double tape decks made short work of copying. Even the Jet Set Willy chart would be jotted down in class at school although the Elite lens lock couldn't be reproduced lol

I got a Mint On Card Tuskan Raider a few years back on ebay.
The seller said her grandparents got it for her it and the parents noticed she already had the same figure so they put it and other double figures up in the loft and was left there for 40 years. I love stories like that.
