I refuse to buy a non-TAITO stereo amp, because I’m weird. I have found what apparently is a better version of the E3/AWSD amp though. Once I get hold of some JST connectors I’ll be able to wire it in.

Stereo mod today. However, I am not using a TAITO amp for this, but a Konami amp instead. I fitted it to the PCB board.

It is better suited to the Egret II as the Speaker Out port matches the P connector on the Egret II perfectly. There is no requirement to hack and change the wire order of the F connector, which leaves it free for F3 usage.

The PSU also has an unused 12V pin, so I’m now waiting on a pricey Engineer Japan crimping tool and some JST parts to arrive, so that I can make up the cable to power it.

I had custom phono leads made, but they are slightly too short (you can see them in the photo). Another lengthier set is on the way.

Not much left to go now. Just my control panels and the conversion to 240V.

Alberto 1L7B-2S control panel just came in. His are better quality than OG I reckon.

Now I can play CPS and MVS without swapping buttons. I went with subtle MVS colours on the button housings whilst sticking with the OG Egret II button colours. Extra Start button is for exA-Arcadia, MiSTer and Recalbox RGB JAMMA menu control.

Im interested in a spinner one for mine. What was the rough cost?

My single-port finally Airlink turned up, so I decided to give the inside of the Egret II a good clean and tidied up the power wiring at the same time. The space under the cash box is a good place to coil the power cable.

Nice and neat now, and I’ve also got a space to keep spare parts in too.

Finally I have 2-Up. If only I had a second person to play!

I’m currently working on a custom video marquee for the Egret II. It’s rather elaborate, but will look incredible when completed. Await photos.

Here is the prototype of my video marquee.

It’s a 15” 4:3 1080p IPS-LCD industrial metal-cased monitor, connected via HDMI to a Raspberry Pi 5. The Pi 5 is connected to my MiSTer via USB-serial TTL. Everything has been neatly wired inside and I’ve got a two-socket Airlink powering both the cab and the screen. The screen powers the Pi via USB.

Now that I have the correct measurements, I need to fashion some better-looking mounts and then de-case the monitor to have everything shot-blasted and powder-coated to match the Egret II.

The end result will be that the Japanese marquee for any game that I select and play will display. I’m going to do the same thing to the move-strip area, so that changes too.

I also installed my new 2-Up control panel complete with a dedicated exA/MiSTer menu button with controls semi-matching the original colour scheme, but with MVS buttons highlighted.

Here it is in action.

I need to do some image resizing, but I’ve got the basics sorted now.

I’ll probably do the same with both of the Noir. They can take a giant display too. Maybe 27”.
