Taito vs Midway Space Invaders

Is a Taito upright Space Invaders more desirable than a Midway one? Is it worth more? What are the differences between the two apart from the obvious cosmetics? Thanks.

I think it's a matter of personal taste. I always thought the Midway artwork sucked. Love the Taito cabs.

The Taito cabs have a joystick (mostly), Midway cabs use buttons.

Yes, i agree, i think the Taito artwork is much nicer. I'm bustin to get one though, and wondered if the Midway one sold for less.

On of my first dedicated arcades was a Bally Midway Space Invaders, and I think it´s cooler looking of the two....

Not much in it for me. But I think Taito just about shades it.

Not only is the artwork far superior on the Taito (IMO of course), but the quality of the electrical components is better too.
The PSU in the Midway looks like it was etched by college students, whilst the Taito one is a thing of beauty.

The simplicity of the Toei monitor on the Taito means it's relatively easy to fix and just keeps on going.

I like the 2 way joystick over the buttons, artwork is better, not sure what wood the Midway is, but Taito is Ply, they wear very well
