[ukvac] TECH: Atari Asteroids
The florescent tube behind the marquee on my Atari Asteroids has stopped
working. I took it to my local electrical shop to be told he hadn't seen
one of these for 20 years.... The tube is about 17" long and 1.5" in
diameter. I guess I could replace it with a modern 'thin' type tube, but
would rather keep it original if possible. Any one know where I could get
one on the original tubes from? Cheers, Steve

I had a similar response trying to obtain a tube for an old Universal cab.
I finally obtained a couple from "Clearlight Electrical Co.Ltd". They have
branches Nation-wide. Go to www.yell.co.uk <http://www.yell.co.uk> and
search on Clearlight, for their locations.
They were £14 each, so it would have been cheaper to put in a new fitting,
but originality prevailed in this case.
[Although a new fitting would have cured the constant hum from them!!]
If your tube is 10w, with H14 marked on it, let me know, and I'll get the
actual part number for you, but a trip to your local branch should do the
trick.

Adrian.
