[ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
Would anyone be able to advise on some board faults as they don't seem like major problems-

PHEONIX

Works fine apart from right hand side of screen wobbling. (after adjusting the v hold for a while!)

GALAXIAN

Works fine apart from screen wobbly when first switched on. After a few mins fine.

SUPER PAC MAN

Works fine but occasionally resets or freezes.

Any ideas??

The screen wobbles are board faults ? are you sure its not the monitor?

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
Don't think so as super pac doesn't wobble. The galaxian is strange as it
wobbles like anthing but if you hold down the reset it doesn't wobble at
all. Once it's warmed up...fine. If the monitor has been warmed up already
the board still wobbles on switch on.

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
in that case try adjusting the 5volt supply

my bomberman board wobbles the picture at anything other than dead on 5volt

failing that I would add a large cap into the 5 volt line to try and smoth
the power source. I think its more likely a power thing then boards

That sorted the galaxian out but didn't make any difference to the pheonix!

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
i'm sorry.. but i have to step in here.. part of mailing list etiquette is
not to reply with a one line answer quoting the whole darn history.

if Luke is helping out, take it to private perhaps.. this is sounding like a
conversation that could easily be done via private email, on the telephone,
or on IRC, but its not the kind of content/frequency for a mailing list,
especially to those subscribed to the digest version.

thankyou :)

Sorry, I thought the point was to share info, if Luke was wrong or anyone
had any other suggestions I thought here was the best place to drag it out.
I'm interested in other peoples problems and fixes as I may have them myself
or encountered them in the past.

Sooooooo there!

The problem with your Phoenix sounds like your monitor's H-hold
setting.

That the Super-Pac doesn't wobble doesn't mean anything. The timing
for video signals were never strictly specifed so you may have to
adjust your monitor's controls for each different game.

I was moaning at the fact you both were qouting the entire thread in EVERY
message you were replying back to each other. This is an incredible waste of
bandwidth, and only helps to fill up the mailboxes of the people subscribed
to the digest version.

You weren't 'posting' results and conclusions, you were 'talking' to each
other through the mailing list, replying with one line answers...

'posting' is what a mailing list is for, not 'talking' to other people, we
have telephones, private email, IRC for that...

Please, you must respect my AUTHORATIE....

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
And another thing....

replying, but not quoting ANYTHING is also annoying and bad form :) You
often see messages, and seemingly the people are talking to themselves :)

quote what is relevant to what you want to say, nothing more, nothing less..
:)

And its not ME you should be saying sorry too, its all the others out there
who are getting mailboxes full of crap, i know it is a pet-hate of the
digest subscribers..

i'm not being intentionally mean, but i need to point out the rules as our
list modearator does sweet fa to keep peole in line ;)

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Board Faults
I know I did it on purpose to annoy you. Look I've done it again! Yes I was
conversing with someone about my fault, but other people were interested in
what was going on, whether it was working etc. I wasn't interested at all in
the colour bleed thread but I didn't complain .It takes about 0.1 seconds to
delete an e-mail.

Not if its in Digest mode, Andy has a valid point here, you try subbing to
the digest mode for a few days and see how annoying it is scrolling
through the same quote 14 times to get to a one line reply...

Jake,

Some people don't like getting 30 e-mails in one day about Superguns, resisitors and the like, and would much rather recieve a single e-mail with the days activity in. Hence us having a digest.Andy mearly pointed out that by doing what you did yesterday would be spoiling a daily digest for a lot of people. Which is true.

Now for you to make a comment like this really makes you look arrogant, and unwilling to try and fit in with the way the list operates.

Please, in future, think about others too..

Regards
Kip
