[ukvac] [TECH] Bubble Bobble

Hi all.

I acquired an original bubble bobble board a while ago and I've just got
round to unpacking it to take a look (it was sold as faulty and was stupidly
cheap as a result). However, it's not what I expected to see - it's made
of 2 boards, one marked "CPU PC BOARD" and has a 22 way connector
with the key at pin 6 along with a row of "pin connectors" (what are
they actually called), which is 12 pins long (one's snapped off).

The other board is marked "VIDEO BOARD" and has a strange 18 way
connector on it with the key at position 7.

Both boards are linked by a single ribbon connector at the other end
of the board.

I've only ever seen bootleg BBs before, which have tended to be single
board affairs, fwiw.

I need to make a wiring loom for it before I can test it, but after a
bit of googling, I found a few sites with pinouts for at least 4 different
kinds of bubble bobble, but none mention 2 connectors to wire up, nor a
row of pins.

Does anyone have the pinouts for this board? I assume this is a
standard Bubble Bobble?

I've bunged a few pics up of the board at www.dragons.org.uk/pcbs/bb/

(no laughing at the crappy blurry pics ;o)

Help muchly appreciated guys!

Gaz

Oh yes, does anyone have any 22 way connectors they want to sell?

My two bootlegs are double board affairs - as were all the others i've seen,
but yours definately looks original ;o)

Very low at the moment, so i'll have to say no, but you need an 18way and 22
way .56" edge connector and a 12 way Molex KK connector.

Sent you a file offlist with the pinouts, so hope it helps...

Gudd.

You can actually get away without using the lower 18 way if the 12 way is
fully wired up.

RE: [ukvac] [TECH] Bubble Bobble
Your boards are genuine,
the give away is the custom taito
chip on the top board which has Bub (or is it Bob)
etched on to it

Cheers

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] Bubble Bobble
thats an original board, jsut wire up the pin connector and the top board
conector (22way) ignore the 18.

i've seen lots of bubble bobbles, mostly bootlegs, never a single layer
booty tho...

AFAICR i used the pinouts off spies to hook up the last bubble bobble
genuine pcb i had..
