[ukvac] TECH: Hanterex
Hi

Does anyone know if you can use a MTC-900E chassis with a MTC-900 tube. It's
just I've been having so much trouble with the nasty anode caps on the
MTC-900 that
I was wanting to replace them and the MTC-900E as it seems like an all
round better
design.

Also has anyone got any fully working Hanterex 20" monitors or chassis for
sale, either
900/900E or 9000?

Cheers
Scott

Guys,

Well I have all the manuals, so here's the full cross list...

MTC-900
-------
Neckboard HFB S4
Videocolor A51-421X

Neckboard HFB PH
ITT A51-230X (RV22P = 50M NO P2 SHUNT)
Philips A51-580X (RV22P = 83M, P2 SHUNT)

Neckboard F110
Philips A51-540X

MTC-900E
--------
Neckboard NE & NF
Videocolor A51-420X
ITT A51-231X

MTC-900/E USA
-------------
Neckboard NE
Toshiba 510 UEB 22 (TC02)

MTC-9000
--------
Neckboard ZG
ITT A51-231X
Samsung 5109 B22
Videocolor A51-420X
Orion 510 UDB 22 (requires E-W board)
Orion R510CKIYAIA

There's a note in the manual about earlier tubes...

"Current production of the MCT-9000 uses the CRT socket type JEDEC B 10-277
(PH) for use with tubes manufactured by Philips, Orion, Samsung, Toshiba and
Videocolor type A51-427X. For interchangeability with previous types of CRT
used in MTC-900 and MTC-900E monitors fitted with CRT socket JEDEC B8-274
(S4), the corresponding plastic socket should be ordered and substituted for
that already mounted by unsoldering and re-soldering with the replacement,
so avoiding substitution of the whole neckboard assembly. To order, quote
part no. 34020170 Hosiden Socket type S4"

...and if the MTC-900 or MTC-900E had east-west correction then you need to
get and fit an east-west correction board for the MTC-9000 chassis.

Regards,

Paul.

Just to add to an already fairly well covered topic - the 9000 chassis
manual actually states that it is built to be pin compatible with all
previous Hantarex models (ie, 900/E), but also goes on to give a description
of having to swap the neck connector if changing for the 900/E (don't
remember which), and even goes on to give you a picture and a part number.

On the 900/E question - VERY different values on the caps, and not quite so
radical, but definately different layout for them too (learn't the hard way
having just gone to install a cap kit).

The label on mine clearly states 900E, but it don't appear to be, but i only
have the one manual, not both so i'm not sure whether i have a 900, or just
a different revision of a 900E (perhaps US/European difference as in the
9000??)

Anyone an expert in this if i supplied a description of where the parts are
on my board? Or indeed anyone have both manuals??

Cheers,
Guddler.

PS: Next time i get cap kits in i'll be making them up myself now i know
just how cheap they are and have a complete list having just painstakingly
gone through double checking ALL the electrolytic caps on both my 9000 and
900(E ?). Deep joy ;o)
