Hi Folks,

I'm currently in possession of 2 dead qix sets. Can anyone tell me what the
row of leds are for, are they some sort of diagnostic?

I'm sure you know p3te.

Lucky you! Join the club, I've a 2-board (dead I think) and a 3-board set
(untested as of yet).
The LEDs are for diagnostics as you say. There is a manual online
(unfortunately I don't have the address, I just remember SPIES and WIRETAP -
somebody help me out here?), providing you have the 3-board set. The 2-board
is undocumented :(

BTW, if you do have the 3 board sets I don't suppose you have a spare set of
ribbon cables to sell / trade?
