Tech help reqd - Taito SI

Hi All,

I have a problem with the UFOs not making a sound when hit on Taito B+W SI (3 board set).

I've replaced the LM3900N which is apparently the usual culprit in this problem but to no avail.

Anybody got any pearls of wisdom to share?

Yeah.
The little skeleton pots are very very fragile.
Looks closely at the pot with a magnifying glass, especially round the
bottom of the track near the solder pin. They tend to develop hairline
cracks if theyre knocked, and this can knock a sound out.
They are easily replaced, CPC do the correct pots (well, a nice 47k
sealed one which is close enough as makes no odds) which is much more
sturdy than the originals. You have to bend/straighten the solder tags
slightly to get them to fit the non-standard pin spacing on the Taito
PCB, but this really doesnt matter. While your in there, might as well
replace the lot, it costs peanuts in parts, and about 20 minutes to do
all 7 of them. Leave the master volume alone if its working though,
these rarely go down.
