[ukvac] [TECH] VR Deluxe service manual
Hi,

Is anybody aware of such a manual (Virtua Racing Deluxe service manual).

I have been trying to track one down before a begin my quest to restore this
best of a machine. Still recovering from (un)loading the damn thing.

Also if anyone has any experience with this unit that would like to share, I
would be most appreciative.

Currently there seems to be a video problem. There is nothing on the CRT at
all and the over head lighting is not working also, which leads me to
beleive there maybe a common fuse (wishful). Apart from that everything else
is working that game plays as normal.

Regards
Rob Ardill

Re: [ukvac] [TECH] VR Deluxe service manual
John,

Great! Has the baby popped out yet? :)

As for two flights of stairs... Well you must be a pretty hefty!

If I could get a copy of the manual, that would be great. Let me know what I
have to compensate you? BTW I'm in Adelaide, Sth Australia.

If you could have a quick look through the service manual to tell me if
there are any fuses or the like dedicated to the CRT and overhead lights.
All the boards are powered and running, as the LED are lit and the game is
running. Some code '82' is display on the two digit LED (rear)board.

As for the bladders, I'm unsure of there state. The seat seems to be in a
bad state. I paid only $500 AUD for the unit and am in no doubt will have to
spend a lot more to get it up and running. I suppose the good news it that
all the boards appear to be running :)

The only other major issue with the unit, is that it's missing the 'Boss'
off the steering shaft. The butterflies are there and the steering wheel
also, so I'll probably make up something to fit on the spline.

Anyway, thanks for offering your help. I'm looking fwd to getting this up
and running ASAP... I love this game!

Regards
Rob

Yes, I've got one.. and a fairly weighty tome it is too :)

HAH.. you absolute 2 stone weakling ;) Mine is now in a 2nd floor office
reached through normal sized doors and up a very narrow stairwell (needless
to say it took some disassembling ;) and a lot of swearing and cajoling to
get it moved!)

I'm not very techy but OK...

My CRT didn't work but a friend tracked it to a dry joint on the HT size of
the circuit board (I think). You've really got to hope the CRT isn't gone
because its medium resolution and getting a big wide screen med res
replacement monitor ain't gonna be cheap! I'm fairly sure you also get what
looks like a dead screen if the game boards (in the top box) aren't
running.. is there a neck glow on the tube?...My game PCB was dead but the
driver boards all worked OK (when you turn the wheel the numbers on the DRV
board change etc)

Sorry I cant be of more help at the moment but give me a shout to nudge me
and I'll try and sort out a copy of the manual for ya (my wife was due to
give birth to our second child today... we're still waiting..so you might
have to wait too for a bit ;))

BTW.. if you cant get it working or wanna part out some of it gimme a shout
;).. I'm desparate for some spare seat bladders (or one even!) as a mate
managed to pop one of mine when the valve stuck on it and he popped the
bladder trying to squeeze himself out of the now rather inflated and tight
seat :)
