I had a look at Arcade Clubs Tehkan World Cup cabinet yesterday, and they have used Golden Tee trackballs instead of the standard Tehkan trackballs, so it definitely looks like a possible solution to my lack of rollerball

If you need, arcadefixit have one blue tehkan trackball left...

I bought his last pair of blue and orange trackballs for mine....

Thanks, but they are too expensive, especially with shipping and import fees

I have 3 Golden Tee trackballs so I will clean them up and give those a go first.

The good thing is that Arcade Clubs cab showed me that it was possible to use these trackballs on a Tehkan World Cup

Well expensive for sure, but they are the originals....

I have to check if from two blue and two oranges i can have a pair of good ones...

So in one cab i'll put the used and in the other the new ones.

I don't know why they shouldn't working inside the tehkan....

They are just normal trackballs, nothing more than this.

You can use Happ translucent, so you can have lights too.

I did a few comparisons against an original one.

From what I could tell the Golden Tee's had a slightly larger trackball, and the holes weren't exactly in the same place. It wasn't miles off but it wasn't perfect. Also the optical boards are different so you would need to rewire those.

First panel done. Will do the next one tomorrow. Not looking bad at all :)

Also my measurements were clearly not far off what I thought

Thanks guys.

I managed to do the other panel tonight - the player 1 side.

It's not as good as the player 2 side in my opinion, but it's acceptable to me

Nice when the panels have left and right buttons to play either hand

Looking great now, amazing what can be done with a bit of time and effort and of course muddy's artwork skills

Looking fantastic dude! What's left?

Put the monitor in

Wire everything up

Rebuild the trackballs

Fit some speakers and grills

I also need to do something about the power. I need to find a suitable metal plate for the power outlet in the cab

So quite a lot still!

This is almost complete now. 95% of the wiring is done. Monitor is in, glass is on. Trackballs have been rebuilt and cleaned, and grills and speakers are fitted

Will power it all on in the next week and see if it works as expected :)
