a while ago someone off here bought a complete mtc9000 monitor from me (new lopt & cap kit)

it goes a few months without them testing it and now they say 'I've just plugged it in and its not working' so i say 'yes no problem send it back and I'll have a look at it' after receving it and looking at it and comparing photo's, they seem to have changed the BU508 and not put the thin insulator back, after asking a couple of polite questions the buyer has sworn they haven't touched it what-so-ever, have a look at the pictures below and tell me what you think? just in case I'm going mad

photo's are before and after, this is how I received it today, I haven't done anything to it

Definitely looks like they've messed with it. Your original BU508 was different to the one in there now for sure. Looks like they disturbed the insulator on the TDA chip next to it - and lost the spring clip from that as well!

Don't know if it would blow straight away. Definitely would spark somewhat! That newer one looks like a completely enclosed insulated one so probably doesn't need the external insulator.

Ages ago i had a 508 insulator shift allowing momentary contact. Ocp licked in and shut down the monitor. It won't like it but won't kill it.

Not straight away anyway.RGP2014-08-31 10:32:08

So you're saying it takes a licking but keeps on ticking?

Not a pleasant situation, hope it doesn't get nasty.....I just tried to use the search facilities to have a sneaky look to see who was involved, but failed miserably.

For what its worth, I bought a recon mtc9000 from jengineer a few months ago. He did a very tidy job on the cap kit, (I am an electronics engineer with 20 years experience, so I know what I'm talking about). The monitor is still working fine and its had heavy use.
I have nothing but good things to say about Jengineer, I will certainly buy from him again.

Fair enough! What about the missing clip and disturbed insulator on the TDA chip though?
