I had that game for a while. Seem to remember it being tough as f*ck so I sold it on pretty sharpish before I threw it out the window in frustration

Just finished listening to the latest podcast!

Sadly missed playing quite a few games I like on recent shows, but nope, I don't think I missed out much on Xain'd Sleena!
I did enjoy Soldier of Light on the speccy as a kid .... but I never got into the arcade version.

Didn't get much time to play Bubble Bobble this week either sadly, and that is one of my faves.
Too many things going on during the summer!
Ah well, it'll be one I'll be playing long into the future anyway.

1986 year review... what a year. So many classics for me. Outrun, Buggy Boy, Wec Le Mans, Wonderboy, 720', Arkanoid, Darius, Bubble Bobble, Rampage, Enduro Racer, Ikari Warriors & Victory Road, Renegade, Side Arms & Sky Kid Dlx. Definitely when everything really kicked off for me in the arcades, my mind was truly blown!
Bring on 1987 for the very same again!

And for listener pickups, I've stalled on the R-Type conversion fixing recently, but picked up a dead Neo Geo MV1-FZ this week, and after cleaning up much battery acid death, and refitting parts with a bit of help from mr. Robotech, I managed to get it up and running again. Woohoo!

sadly I never seem to be in time to take part in the high score challenge
this may change soon with the arrival of one of rich chunksins pi to jamma boards nicely installed on one of vics precision mounting plates :)

feeling your pain with the 29 inch we ya / macvision Chinese monitors
they are very poor quality and fail at the drop of a hat
I have two now that worked fine until they were removed from the cab and then never worked again they are not worth bothering with really

still really enjoying the podcast keep up the good work guys
needs more 10 pence orchestra ;)

@Alpha1 - from memory I found Sidearms to be a similar, and better game than Section Z. Mameinfo says SIdearms is the sequel. I'll check them both out, however, and see if I still think that.

Shaun there's one before both of them. It goes Baraduke > Section Z. Wasn't aware sidearns was a sequel too.

Anyhow, Xain, was a load of poop. I tried to like it but it's baaaaaaaad.

Baraduke / Alien Sector is by Namco, and the other two are Capcom, so I don't think it's part of the same series? Hang on, I should know better than to question your mighty knowledge!

Well gentlemen, after the Game Of Which We Will Never Again Speak, it is good to see you pull it back with an absolute gem of a game.
Bubble Bobble is simply exquisite to play, even with the (better) 2 player mode shunned for the 10pscoring, it just spilled over with joyness!
Really liked working/finding out some of the games nuances, and making the power-ups work to your advantage. Still a long way of some of the big hitters, but would hope by the time you read this out, that I've topped 1million.

Mr20to5.

(PS Happy birthday Vic)
