"This month’s podcast is a – sweetcorn mystery, cheesey umbrella, talky wallet and a floaty fox. All wrapped up in a closey casey thing. And look out for next month’s special –

REMODELLING A TURD PODCAST (TM)

Ahem."

That's from Vic. City Connection is not a turd at all. It's awesome. Honest.

Nice work as ever Guys,

And GREAT choice of game, Shaun! That Victor doesn't know what he's harrumphing about.

To begin with, I didn't like this at all - especially the 'delay' when trying to turn the car around. In fact, I seem to have given myself a mild case of tennis elbow - wanging (no, wanGing) my stiff old wico from side to side. I've also developed a burning hatred of cats. However, having said that, if you can find your zen point in this game, the point-rinsing soon takes on a therapeutic character, and you end up wanging your troubles away. I love the dynamic: Stock up on barrels, nip down to the bottom level, set 4 cars spinning, then smash them for a mega bonus. I don't think I ever got past level four or five. But on my high-scoring game, I only got onto the third round, and even that was by going through two warps. I'll definitely be coming back to this one.

Mouser on the other hand...

I totally agree, Mr Rygarrr, about getting into this game and finding your 'zen point'. Amazing score BTW. The Twin Galaxies WR is 1.2mil. I reckon that's doable. (No record to compare with on Aurcade.)

Give Mouser a try. It's a grower imo.

Cheers Shaun,

Mr Berserker was the front runner for a long time, but he snoozed and loozed on the challenge - classic hare and tortoise scenario. Looks like he's re-taken the lead now though.

1.2 Mil (as we top gamers say!) might be doable in the long run. It'd need a fair bit of luck and stamina. But I doubt you'd need any complicated strategies. You'd just have to perfect the balance between point-rinsing and level progression. I was finding that once you get up to about 200K on level one, things started getting a bit too busy, with a few too many spikes and cats appearing from nowhere to finnish you off. As you know, there's no timer or anything to chivvy you along, but from about 150K it seemed like there were more and more balloons, almost as if you were being encouraged to warp out of there. Could that be the sweet spot? 150K points per level.

As for Mouser, I've been giving it a go, and have warmed to it a bit. It's not as free-form and 'relaxing' as City Connection, more of a memory test, really. But not as dank as it seemed at first.
