The best arcade death/explosion.

Now I've just about finished fixing a Defender PCB I was reminded how good it looks when you die in this game.
Flashing ship which explodes to an expanding cloud of debris.

Got me to thinking about stylish and cool ways your ship/character dies in certain games.

Mr Do's wild ride is another where a collision with a car will send you flying around the screen bouncing off the boarders. Quite a shock first time it happens.

Anyone else got any good ones?

Kind of off on a tangent but THE END of Missile Command is pretty much engrained in my brain. Memories as a kid plus decades of watching Terminator 2.

You get to burn the flesh off a Saddam lookalike in an electric chair at the end of Total Carnage.
That’s memorably grim. With that and Mortal Kombat, Midway were a bit sick in the head.

I like that on Golden Axe the bodies stay there, littering the screen. It’s a bit in-reverse, but the snakes moving across the screen to make Death Adder is cool too.
None of that made it to the home versions ☹️

Yeah! my old brain couldn’t quite work it out and came up with your bike exploding in (Super?) Hang-On instead which I thought was pretty brutal, but probably better than twisted and broken limbs/head!
