I know quite a few of us have these now, and are planning our own conversions, and there are a few threads already out there Muddys and Jodos and Vics spring to mind Thought it might be an idea to all post our conversions in 1 thread.

Had mine for quite a while now, jamma conversion 90 percent done, just need to find some time to get it 100 percent done. Will update with some more pics of it running and internals etc, but got the art from olly a few days back and slapped it on.

I really like the art design you did, clean and crisp and it really
suits the cab. Nice to see custom front panel art as well, as that
really ties it all in together.

Here's the one I did to Ghouls n Ghosts.

I've
got a few more of these cabs in my workshop now with a different
dedicated theme planned for each so I'll be cracking on with those in a
month or so.

With mine (well, my son's now), I have basically stripped and deep cleaned it before blowing £400 on 800 more dinosaur cards.

However, I have a plan that involves cowboys for another shell I have. More to follow later in the month....

Mily, you must be the only one keeping it stock :) How is the actual game?

My son Ollie is a Dinosaur nut, so had to have one. You never know, it might become teh rarez £1500!!!1 if all the remaining ones get converted.

As a game, it's pretty simplistic and is clearly just a revenue generator. You buy a card each time you credit up. It might be a dinosaur you can use to fight, or a move/special move card. You then play Rock/Paper/Scissors against an opponent and if you win, you hit them with the corresponding move. You can then swipe cards to counter their moves or really inflict damage with a special move.

Basically, a bit "meh" but a 5 year old loves it!!!Milky2015-05-06 10:49:46

Shame, I sold all the bits from my machines not long ago, had new Management chips and a Card Dispenser Full, nearly a complete set of cards apart from about 4 and I sold it a lot cheaper than £400, was on ebay and hardly any interest so they went to USA with the main board

Then when he gets bored you can convert it to a mini gunsmoke

Not Gun Smoke for this one - I'm thinking about a sheriff only being able to protect 3 bank doors at a time....

I love the little Neo Geo one. I had an idea awhile back rather than MAME a candy cab I would get one of these and make a mini Sega Astro City out of it and use it for MAME. This thread has made me want to do that again.

Glad you guys are still doing these.

Means I am not mad, people told me 7years ago nobody would want them as mini cabs. especially when the first shed load of mushi kings turned up!

This is an excellent and useful thread, as I'm in the midst of stripping a Dino King out and converting to MAME.

Strykr, I don't suppose you have the sizing template for that artwork do you? Will save me measuring mine up before removing the old stuff and deciding on what art to get done.

Also, I asked Andy about this the other week, but still not sure on the solution. I'm trying to hook up a 15khz Mame PC to the monitor via the vga cable, but can't get a picture at all. Andy suggested it might be something to do with PC vga having a seperate horizontal and vertical sync while arcade boards just have a single composite sync. What would be the best way of resolving this?

Also, if you're quick, FrancoB is doing a bulk order of pre cut panels with various button/joystick options. Not sure if he's posted here, but there's a thread on Arcade Otaku.

All of the art scans were done from Muddys original scans which have been tidied up, The front panel was a bit of guess work as mine was half ripped off, but thankfully it came out ok. Im sure Olly will be happy to pass on the template files, or for a small reach around will probably help you with the art if he has it. If not I can get the templates over to you.

Not sure if you've seen this thread Tony, but Phil wrote up a detailed strip down and conversion over on jamma, there is also some useful information on monitor pinout that might help on page 3.

You can put the neo ones up if you like olly, or white them out for a template, did quite a bit of work straightening up those rough edges etc.

Awesome guys

And yeah Geezer, these cabs are ace for mini machines, the best thing really is they have CRT's, coupled with the usual quality build cabs from Sega, Ideal for many projects
