I recently got an Atari 7800+ and a copy of Tiger Heli - I have played that one game more in the last week than I have played all my emulated console games in the last year - it is true that if you have unlimited access to something then it loses all value, as ive paid £25 for that game I am going to play it!
I am still keeping my mame emulation setup as I have no other way of playing arcade stuff, but even that I am trying to whittle down to just those games that I played years ago, rather than scrolling through thousands, playing for one level and then playing a different game.
Hopefully my collection will expand to pc engine, mega drive and snes again, and then I can just buy games like I did years ago and actually enjoy them. I also have an AES+ on order and, despite the fact I can play all the games anyway in mame, I ill be buying my games and actually playing them, instead of just being a collector of roms.

Had a fantastic MAME build and found myself not playing anything for longer than about 15 minutes before mindlessly picking another game. Rinse and repeat.

Which in truth, is what we did in a packed arcade, we had out favourites but we also had to try the rest of the games!

Fact is at first we are a kid in a candy shop, but you settle down eventually and hone in on a few games to be playing at once, I have a driving cab set up, and for some reason I've found myself playing California speed more than anything else, it's not the greatest game, but it just seems to hit that spot
