Hi all , Thought I would post my latest repair on here and with any luck it will help others out. I apologise now for my bad spelling and grammar ! Listed as much as I can, And tried to explain as much as I can without people falling asleep while reading.
So today we have a game I had never heard of or played. The board is in good condition but does show some signs of previous repairs and is missing some caps. On firing this up we got no screen or audio. The roms are always my first thing to look at so straight out with them, Clean all the contact and sockets and see hat we have. And blow me it booted up with good video and sound !!! I was surprised. A few pics of the original condition below :-
It actually looks worse than it is. The brown stains that look like corrosion is actually previous repairs, It seems that who ever did them could not be arsed to clean the flux off afterwards - BAD PRACTICE !
The board cleaned up very well. (Pics below of board having a bath ! Don't worry I know what I am doing before people post saying they were cringing looking at the pic !)
Next onto the simple stuff , Under the hand written sticker there was a cap missing , Another over the other corner was loose and there was 3 near the audio that were loose or knocked about. Out with the iron and all were replaced. I had to guess what the value was under the sticker as I could not find diagrams or make it out on the very few pics I could find of other peoples toffy boards.
So all working and finished !!! Yeh !!!
Working Pic :-
I must say this is very addictive and I have racked up 2 1/2 playing it !!! Its great !!! What do you think ??
So there we have it, A small repair but another saved from the clutches of the scrap man. I hope you have enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoy reviving dead boards. If you could leave a comment or give me a thanks that would be great. I will keep posting these if people read and enjoy ??
Dave.
P.S As far as I can tell this board is very rare. On greedbay people are asking 150 - 250 for it. Could not find much information about this board at all. What do you think ??
