Just got back from London and waiting for me was an original Toki PCB. I bought the PCB with a sound issue related to the volume pot or absence of one. Toki is on my want list and so decided to take this one on. Couldn't resist having a go on this so went straight for it.

First up an inspection of the board revealed that a previous attempt had been made to remove the pot. All the soldering eyes had been burnt out of the PCB and there were two tracks broken leading to the soldering eyes.

I need to re-establish the trace so using some 0.2 wire soldered it on to the existing trace and through the eyeless through hole.

De-soldered a pot from another board and soldered the new trace on to it.

Next up, the larger trace. Thought about putting a short section in here but decided it would be too fiddly. Went straight to the eye, by-passing the original trace. Looks a bit ugly but never mind.

Now for the final through hole. Had to solder this from both sides of the board to make a contact and it's the only position to hold the pot in place. I'm just relying on the one point for contact which isn't great.

I've got sound though now, so very happy. Will need to handle with care in the future. Now to put my feet up after that mega journey home with two bored and restless kids. I've earned it.
