I switched this TV on this morning after a couple of years of not using it, and of course it's not working properly! It's a shame as it had a really nice picture and hadn't been used much. I'm assuming this is 'vertical collapse' (which is how I feel when my stuff breaks!).

Does anyone know if this is fixable? I can do basic soldering and can usually follow simple instructions. Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah that's vertical collapse. Assuming as it's a TV and not a monitor the vertical deflection plug terminals aren't burnt/overheated, it could be as simple as a dry cap or something. Problem with later TV's like this is that just about everything is computer controlled so i'd guess there's not a standard vertical deflection chip like you'd get on an arcade monitor chassis. With that said, some of the later multisync arcade chassis that are osd types still can have a vertical deflection cihp so it might be worth looking for one just in case it has got one and checking it's not shorted and checking the surrounding circuitry.
