I've seen the pics and I stand corrected. The 3 wire side does seem to be the primary. It may have a center tapped primary to allow for 110V and 240V AC use. If you get a multimeter/resistance meter and measure the DC resistance between all wires in turn on the primary side, the 2 wires with the highest DC resistance would be 240V in and 1 of the 2 and the other would be 110V in. This would normally be switched. What machine did this unit come out of?. The output voltages seem a bit odd.

The unit may be out of either a old Honeywell mainframe type
beast(it was huge and on 4 study castors) or from a Adler.
Basically is was my dad having a clear-out of the garage!

I've checked the resistance on the input side:-
Red & White - 19ohms
Red & Black - 2 ohms
White & Black - 17ohms

So, do ya think putting 240VAC on the Red&White should be ok?
Maybe White is Neutral like the US electrical colour coding....?

From the resistances measured, the 110V/240V theory is disproved. If the transformer was designed for 110/240V operation, the centre tap would have approx. half the DC resistance of the 240V winding. If the wire colour coding is based on the US system then it's possible that RED and WHITE are 110V inputs. It's upto you if you choose to connect this to the mains. Be aware that if the primary is wound for 110V operation connecting it to 240V would effectively double the secondary voltage and this in turn could blow up all the electrolytic caps on the secondary side if their operating voltages are exceeded.

To be able to help further I would need to see the circuit/unit itself. This is all just guess work and could prove to be dangerous. My advice would be to just dump it or put it aside until it is properly identified.
