Thanks to everyone who participated, watched and supported the UK Kong Off. I think it went amazingly well and will live long in the memory of everyone involved. Congratulations to the winners and those who set new PBs also. What a day it was. I hope we see a few more videos shared of the event on YouTube in the days to come. All the best guys, Oli
Just for the record:

Oli is now known as

Oli Knucklez!

The new Kong Off organisers have taken over from the old guard

Think somebody uploaded the results announcement with Walter to the tubes yesterday, saw something pop up on my feed but not watched it.

Just going through a few old photos from around 1983/4 taken in our previous home when our oldest daughter then aged 3 was practicing for the Kong competition in 42 years time…… 😁😁😁😁😁
We converted our Alca Scramble cab to Kong with a pirate ROM kit as cabs were still expensive then… first scramble game we ever did then we did another to Turpin about a month later?

We home made our marquees back then kong just stencil & felt pen on card .. the Turpin a slice of misc screen Perspex bezel reverse painted by hand so translucent when lit.
I still have a Moon Cresta marquee we painted on a slice of Midway Space Invader screen .it’s little wonder many didn’t survive but at the time their value was under £50 and nobody wanted them (even if they still worked! )

Arcade games … better than any babysitter or plastic toys for keeping them quiet while we watched TV or ate our tea in peace!

Results are up on the site now.

Came 19th which is better than I thought I had done.
I pipped you for 18th
150,000
The 1st time I'd touched a nintendo cab was pressing 1 player start in the Kong Off!
Can say, the screen is lovely, but the joystick is tiny and clanky clank metal.
Hard wearing, but not for me, the ball is just too small for comfortable grip.
I could feel my knuckles sliding across the control panel and it wouldn't take long for the skin to start coming off.
I suppose nintendo calluses would grow if I persisted with play.

Was also the 1st time I've played real DK, I play Allen Kong baby!
Was close to a PB, my best is only 156k.

I was never going to win, my prize was the lanyard, and a brief moment on stage.
Plus it was great to show off Allen Staal's UK KONG OFF rug.
I wore it like a cape while on stage.
It's a great rug but not a great cape :)

Hardly pipped with an extra 31k+ :D

Best Ive had in mame was 200k plus but I left my practice starting too late before the event, should have put a bit more effort in.

I know what you mean about the stick, the original Nintendo R-Type cab has the same small type joystick and I found it weird trying to play with it at AC as pretty sure I only ever played it in Jamma cabs with a proper sixed stick back in the day.
