So, last month i bought a pretty naff looking HORI arcade stick with the idea of changing the buttons and adding a new stick, the stick looks a bit awkward to replace but the buttons were my first fight, as they were soldered to a daughterboard inside the stick. My previous attempts at soldering were a bit messy but I decided i was going to do this, so i bought 6 ultimarc gold leaf buttons, a flux pen, a desoldering pump and got to work, one week later it was all done!
First i had to desolder the buttons from the daughterboard..without burning the board, or myself, then I soldered the new cables to the board:
The buttons arrived this morning, at first I thought they werent going to fit but they fit snugly with enough space at the back for the bolts to go on, then I soldered all the wires to each button:
I was now worried that the case wouldnt close with the board being loose but thankfully it wasnt too loose that it would move about, it all fits together prefectly and heres the finished product compared to what it looked like before!!! Im very happy with how it came out, considering im not comfortable soldering and my hands shake quite a bit!!
And how it looked before...
